The new batman game looks pretty good. Gameplay seems fun too!

Eh didn't they already quote a couple of good reviews in the commercial (one was Game----, one was Playboy)? I think it could be decent, the Wii version of the first was a solid 8.0 or so and is the type of high 7/early 8 that is actually much better than that if you're interested in seeing the connections to the movie.

I feel like Mafia II is likely to be much more awesome (because the first game was sickkkkk) and it's out later this year.

Godfather I was awesome except for the fact that Al Pacino didn't allow them to use his likeness, so you have Michael Corleone looking like some random douche.

Still can't believe he cockblocked them to use his likeness for the Scarface game, which was like, the worst game ever.

Pointless rant over, I'll be gameflying it and hoping you get to be the guy who aces Fredo.

The game will have disc-based copy protection – there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed.

We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future.

i'm hoping it is, the first game was awesome and i don't think EA will **** it up unless they make some drastic changes to the gameplay

should be merged and the title should called "Official Retro Gaming Thread" imo, as Microsoft and Sony have similar services with X-Box Live Arcade and PSN (PSOne Classics), all of which can be tracked/discussed here, along with all other retro gaming stuff.

Lots of industry websites (1up, IGN, Gamespot) now have dedicated sections/blogs to retro gaming.

I suspect 2p2 has a bunch of people like me: 20-30 year olds who grew up playing Atari/NES/SNES/Genesis/PSOne/arcades and are interested in retro-releases on the various platform services, other discussions about what retro games they're playing, and general stuff like that.

xposted in the other thread
DVaut posted this in the Wii VC Updates and "Who Still Rocks Old Games?" threads - what are your guys' thoughts on merge/no merge? I'm down for whatever the majority wants. One person in the VC thread said they didn't want a merge.

I'd say don't merge. The selection is pretty different from console to console and putting them all in one place will make it difficult to see what titles are available for each system.

Yeah this was the game I was trying to recall the name of.

It seems like such an awesome idea, but for some reason I didn't have that much fun with it.

Anybody else try it? Thoughts?

I'm against merge as well for the most part - I like to be able to just click on the VC thread to see the week's updates and brief discussions on them. I'd be okay with one thread for all retro-re-releases on all systems, but not ALL retro gaming discussion in one thread.

i decided to buy godfather 2 since i MOPPED UP a home game last weekend lawl

first impressions after playing about an hour:

love the extortion and family recruitment. you will start out with an arsonist or medic...and then a demo man. i'd recommend the medic guy first (i went with arsonist but haven't really found a use for him yet)

i took over a small section of a neighborhood and now i rock brass knuckles as a reward. the story is decent, i'm playing more or less for the killing, shooting, extortion, turf wars etc. speaking of, it didn't take long for one family to try take one of my businesses. i came to the rescue and busted a cap!!

the controls are ok, nothing to write home about. driving is more sluggish than GTA, i suspect that's because these are supposed to be vehicles from the 50s/60s no?

fighting is a breeze with a lock on system, it's relatively easy to take cover, love the cover system.

i hesitate to recommend it as a buy. if you liked the first i'm sure you will like this one. i've only scratched the surface of this one. OH and one other thing, when you take a family down you take their soldiers down first (have to kill em in specific ways: strangle, run over, throw in river) then you take down the underboss, and then the boss. have only taken out one soldier so far, found him in an alley and strangled him bwahaha

I would not recommend buying GF2, I played it through last weekend and it took me about 12 hours. 2 sessions that was.
I did like GF1 but that also got pretty boring in the end, the first one atleast followed the movie WAY closer than the second.
The moving was ok on pc etc but seriously, after the first city it's just the same as the first one. You don't even have to kill the other families soldiers or underbosses, you just take over all their rackets and blow up their compound. Also I think you need an arsenist one time the whole game....

I don't want to spoil the story so I won't reveal more..

did you just beat all the missions or did you take over every single racket? like in the first one if you controlled every single territory you eventually became Don of NYC, that **** took a long time pretty sure my first play through of GF1 was like 40 hours or something.

I didn't go through the hassle of taking all the rackets before the mission was 'take over all the rival families'. That did not take too long, the missions were VERY easy. Did not have any hard time with any of them really.
Also, you could just send your buttons to clear a small racket while you take over a bigger facility with the capos/underboss. A word of warning though, THEIR COMPUTER BRAIN IS EMPTY. Do not send them to any difficult rackets, it will take 30 minutes, even with only 5 guards. They will just be there doing nothing, ****ing irritating.

In GTAs I've atleast failed some missions several times to a point I feel like throwing my computer out of the window, that did not even come close at GF2.
Oh wait, it did!!11 but not because of the missions, it was because the game was a BORING PIECE OF **** after 6 hours or so. I was just trying to get 100% and uninstall the game as soon as possible. It took longer than expected because there were some difficulties with the stupid buttonmen.

Retry connection. If it fails again, restart Steam. That usually solved the problem for me. It just seems to be weirdly random.

after playing around 13+ hours i've nearly beaten the game and i own all the rackets and stores now. the game is way easier than the first GF game, kinda disappointing actually. i'm having fun with it, but it's way too easy IMO. a renter at best

Plus, Disciples III comes out in the next year
Bump because I just discovered that they have Disciples II plus all three expansion packs on Steam for $20. I started playing it again and it holds up pretty well! Someone buy it and play me online, I'm probably terrible (plus single player has major "oh **** I just sent my strongest hero into a battle without realizing he can't possibly win, QUICK, TO THE AUTOSAVE" syndrome) so it'll be fun
