just got back from my Sales Conference.
Gears 2 looks absolutely sick, the game play seemed to be pretty great too (long lines to play, didn't feel like waiting.

Even longer lines were for the 4 Street Fighter 4 arcade machines that they brought in from Japan. Had them set up where you were fighting your opponent, your screens were back to back and you could not see eachother. From what I saw it was just absolutely stunning.

Mortal Kombat vs Dc didn't really impress me much, maybe because i'm just not a fan of the Kombat universe.

Force Unleashed looks amazing, the game play seems fun as hell as well. It was demo'd to us for about 20 minutes or so.

Watching gameplay from Dead Space makes me really look forward to this release. They got rid of the HUD and your life bars are running down the spine of your armor and the ammo count is now pulled up on the weapons as you fire them. The "no gravity" rooms were pretty amazing, watching hacked off limbs float around now and then.

Mirrors edge, bah. Game looks good but I hate first person.

Fracture seemed interesting the way you could manipulate the terrain. However, the presenters were boring and annoying as **** and I just never got around to playing it myself to see how the gameplay actually was.

All in all it was great, but damned exhausting.
Mostly good presentations but some people were boring and had no enthusiasm at all for their product.

Got lots of free gifts and the big 3 (sony, MS and Nintendo) all gave us some pretty cool crap and got some good free games coming to us as they get released.

btw, I've decided it's official: Super Metroid is awesome, and if you haven't played it, you should. I was fairly underwhelmed for the first ~hour of play but once you get a couple upgrades (I think Super Missiles was the point where I was like "wow, there are all these doors I couldn't open before that I can open now! AWESOME!") it gets way fun. I'm normally kinda down on older games, I guess I'm more of a graphics whore than I'd like to admit, but I've been having a blast playing this.

Super Metroid is an all time classic and anyone with a bit of time and inclination who hasn't played it should seek it out.

Ok guys, need some help. Some background first. I have had a PS2 for like 7 years now or something and very rarely play. When I did play it was all sports games, Madden, TW, etc. I bought a Wii about 4 months ago and while it's great for when the gf and I want to play something it's not what I want all the time.

On to now. I feel like I have missed out by never playing Call of Duty type games so I want to get into that. Madden is a must as well and probably TW/NCAA/MLB etc. I am sure there are others that you guys can point me to as well.

If you were going to get a system just for those type games it's a 360 right? Gamestop has new 20 gig Pros for sale for $300. Is that all I will need or should I wait for the 60g to drop to $300?

What accessories do I need outside of what comes standard? Treat me like a noob here and tell me what to do. Thanks.

dunno if you're referencing http://www.q4max.com/ , but i hadn't heard of it. very cool to see that at least one cpma dev is working on a cpma for q4. i had ignored the game completely, but this might raise my interest in it if the scene is active and quake live isn't sufficiently cpma-like in terms of physics for my tastes.

I want to play Super Metroid, but unfortunately I need to play Metroid 2 first for the original Gameboy. When you start up Super Metroid it clearly states "Metroid 3". I can't just ignore that. Plus there's a rather massive and emotional story element that carries over (although I already know what it is).

Yes indeed it's that mod. It's nowhere near CPMA imo. Q4 is pretty dead as the poster above said but there are still players. I just got done installing Q3 and CPMA so I can satisfy my FPS needs
I'm waiting for the quake live too :drool ^___^

Haha, this game is sooooper light on story though! I think it's barely a level above Doom in that regard.

You're a marine, one of Earth's toughest, hardened in combat and trained for action. Three years ago, you assaulted a superior officer for ordering his soldiers to fire upon civilians. He and his body cast were shipped to Pearl Harbor, while you were transferred to Mars, home of the Union Aerospace Corporation.

The UAC is a multi-planetary conglomerate with radioactive waste facilities on Mars and its two moons, Phobos and Deimos. With no action for fifty million miles, your day consisted of suckin' dust and watchin' restricted flicks in the rec room.

For the last four years the military, UAC's biggest supplier, has used the remote facilities on Phobos and Deimos to conduct various secret projects, including research on inter-dimensional space travel. So far they have been able to open gateways between Phobos and Deimos, throwing a few gadgets into one and watching them come out the other. Recently however, the Gateways have grown dangerously unstable. Military "volunteers" entering them have either disappeared or been stricken with a strange form of insanity--babbling vulgarities, bludgeoning anything that breathes, and finally suffering an untimely death of full-body explosion. Matching heads with torsos to send home to the folks became a full-time job. Latest military reports state that the research is suffering a small set-back, but everything is under control.

A few hours ago, Mars received a garbled message from Phobos. "We require immediate military support. Something fraggin' evil is coming out of the Gateways! Computer systems have gone berserk!" The rest was incoherent. Soon afterwards, Deimos simply vanished from the sky. Since then, attempts to establish contact with either moon have been unsuccessful.

You and your buddies, the only combat troop for fifty million miles were sent up pronto to Phobos. You were ordered to secure the perimeter of the base while the rest of the team went inside. For several hours, your radio picked up the sounds of combat: guns firing, men yelling orders, screams, bones cracking, then finally, silence. Seems your buddies are dead.

Things aren't looking too good. You'll never navigate off the planet on your own. Plus, all the heavy weapons have been taken by the assault team leaving you with only a pistol. If only you could get your hands around a plasma rifle or even a shotgun you could take a few down on your way out. Whatever killed your buddies deserves a couple of pellets in the forehead. Securing your helmet, you exit the landing pod. Hopefully you can find more substantial firepower somewhere within the station.

I just got my wii delivered from Walmart.com. The games I got with my bundle were Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Bros. I also bought Mario Cart. So far Mario Galaxy is fun but seems really easy after like 58 stars. Resident Evil seems really hard. I haven't played it much, but had trouble getting out of the first village with all the bad guys. Mario Cart is fun, but it tilts me really hard when people vote for Rainbow Road online. I haven't played the others yet, as I've resolved to only play one game at a time so that I'll actually complete them all. My GF loves Mario cart, and has some fun with Galaxy, so from a diplomacy standpoint the wii was a good buy.

I posted before about my PS2 acting up and taking a long time to load discs. Someone suggested cleaning the unit. So I went to http://arstechnica.com/articles/paed...ware/ps2.ars/3 and followed the instructions. The problem I had was that I would put a disc in and it would take a while to load. And some discs wouldn't load at all. The second problem seems to be solved. But not the first one.

But with the system open, I can see what happens when I put a disc in--nothing. It'll just sit in the player for quite a few seconds (I didn't time it, but probably over 30 seconds.) When it finally does start spinning, the game loads pretty quickly (thanks to the adjustment). But I have no idea why it takes so long to start spinning.

58 stars takes a while to do. I'd say the first 40 or so stars were pretty easy. But there were some challenges later on. The purple star comets (which I don't think you can get until you defeat Bowser after 60 stars) are tilting the hell out of me and have led me to stop playing.

Ok, old game question. How do you power slide in Super Mario Kart (SNES version)? I've been playing it again and not knowing how to do it is tilting the **** out of me. Google was anything but helpful.

a little over 6 hours into Too Human right now, just beat Hod.
It's taken me a while, but I'm finally starting to enjoy the combat, but that might be because I have no choice.
3 hours in I was annoyed with the combat but determined to at least play another session or two to see how I felt then.
3 hours later, and chasing Hod down I'm now at peace with the combat and the right analog stick.

How's the difficulty scale? I liked the demo after playing it a few times, but was concerned about how easy it was.

I've tried like every combo of that, and I'm still sliding way out on the turns. I figure since the best I can do on the first ghost track is pretty far off the record online, I'm doing something wrong.
