That really sucks corpsebean. At least cloud saves are now here on both consoles so these types of disasters will soon be a thing of the past for new games.

Yeah that will help definitely, especially if they are going to keep doing the "Import old saves for decisions" type stuff across multiple games.

Also no game should disallow you from backing it up on a flash drive. My Fable II/III and Street Fighter save games would have been intact if not for that.

I mean it's my fault for being ******ed and hasty but still, could have just been a HDD failure and I'd be in the same boat.

Hey guys I'm trying to find some old video game music but I'm not having luck. The stuff I'm thinking of is almost like a 8-bit electronica, used in scrolling shooter games (I think). It centers around a spacey synth.

If it helps at all, I never really played any arcade games but think I ran into this music years back when I used the program Gamemaker.

Anything specifically or you just want random 8-bit music?

And corpsebean I have no idea why they don't let you backup your saves. That seems so bizarre.

Audiosurf is a game that builds a custom track based on any music (or sound) file you upload:

I'm looking specifically for the type of 8-bit (if it even is 8-bit, idk) that I described.

This prob isn't what AKSpartan is looking for but this discussion reminded me of a song that reminds me a lot of old skool video game music: Pendulum - Under the Waves

I saw those guys a month or two ago on one of those HD concerts they play on cable every Sunday. Definitely a cool concert, but I couldn't get into their music at all once I downloaded it.

Reminds me of some of the underground geek-rock bands I used to listen to off-and-on in the mid 1990s. I forget any of their names, but maybe I'll look around and post an example.

Not really, the levels are varied enough to keep things interesting for those few hours it takes to finish the game. I had no boring parts when I finished it.

Yes, if you have a 3DS, make sure you have connected it to the internet before August 12th or something so you can be eligible for the free games.

?

You can put any laptop HDD in the PS3. You can't swap 'em tho, you need to format everything.

Or am I missing something?

just saw the trailer for the upcoming Rocksmith this fall (http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/e...ome/index.aspx).

-music game, plugs into any existing guitar with jack, tracklist looks decent.

time to dust off that electric guitar I bought on a whim and only learned how to play G, D, and A chords on in ~3years.

i have the hard drive from a broken 120GB ps3 slim that i wanted to put into my new 160GB ps3 slim so i could load it full of movies and music from my windows 7 comp(which i would then give to a friend with a 120gb ps3 slim). unfortunately it wouldn't work. slightly different connectors on the HD.

Thanks for the vid, that's really ****ing cool.

I think I'm more interested in how they solve the problem of storing the data for trillions of atoms than I am the problem of how they render it. Also, the stuff he said about polygon count like aaaahhh we can only build so many polygons before we hit the limit!!11 isn't a completely accurate way of looking at it - there's only so many polygons we can draw on the screen at once. There's no technical reason why Crysis' palm trees couldn't be incredibly detailed when you're looking at them close up, presuming that there isn't a ton of other stuff on the screen that also needs to render. They probably just decided they had better uses of their development time than making super detailed palm tree models.
