The MS Mojang deal has me thinking about what MS plans on doing with PC gaming. I'm sure some bean counters have pointed out how many millions (billions at this point?) of dollars they've lost to Steam/Origin/UPlay by not making GFWL a viable competitor. And if there was an internal philosophy of ignoring PC gaming to keep from drawing gamers away from the XBox, that has to have been proven false by now. I fully expect them to start taking a more active role with Windows gaming soon besides DirectX - they've abandoned GFWL but the platform is still growing and is far larger than their XBox market. And they should be worried about the growth of Linux gaming due to the Unity, Unreal and Crysis engines running on everything and their drastically reduced price, and where Valve ends up going with SteamOS.

A smart move would be to mimic Steam and the Steam Marketplace as a semi-walled garden ecosystem for retail and modding, by tying XBox Live together between the One and PC. That should be a lot easier now that both platforms (and the PS4) are running on x86 CPUs and DirectX. I'm sure they make a decent amount selling neutered mod-like content via DLC skin and texture packs, but Minecraft only got where it was because of the modding community. Minecraft 2.0 as an XBox exclusive is not going to go anywhere, but if they can launch a new XBox Live with like League of Legends and a new Minecraft, with multiplatform multiplayer support and a marketplace for sharing free mods, that could be huge.

I'm terrified by the thought, things have been great the less involved Microsoft has been with PC gaming, but it seems like a smart move for them.

The answer to this is "after installing mods correctly and reading a little about character creation", if anyone was wondering.

Back when SS2 came out, it was a completely mindblowing innovative experience for me, but I don't really think it's the kind of game that can stand being played 10 years later. There are so many newer games building on the SS2 foundation that are much better, Bioshock being the prime example.

I bought it on Steam a few months back, and I had the same experience I have with pretty much any game, I buy for the sake of nostalgia: Meh.

Edit: I have only tried SS2 with the hi-res mods, so I don't know if the gameplay has been improved with mods.

In terms of gameplay mechanics alone, Bioshock was a little bit of a step back from SS2. They console-ized it.

This may be stupid, but why the **** do people hoverhand? It's a serious question.

Most hoverhand-pictures look like they've been snapped just as the people in them were moving into or out of the pose to me. I guess the hoverhand in itself makes it seem so.

lol I looked up those pics earlier today to see if they had any hover hand in them but I guess the people must have been told to stay a foot away from her or something.

I think in one of her foreign stops, she almost got attacked or something, so she made ridiculous rules for meet and greets. I think she stopped it though.
