All PS3 owners, this game is certainly a keeper. I played the demo back in May. I bought the $60 version with the headset, instead of the PSN $40 download. I think many people can easily enjoy this game.

First it is instant action right when you spawn in the level. Any former players of Unreal Tournament or even an older game like Quake will be quite used to this concept. This game relies more on using vehicles than ground combat.

You have your planes, tanks, jeeps and ground turrets. The cool part about these planes they can fly/hover. You can be flying then hit triangle and come to a complete stop. You can then use the L2 or R2 to ascend or descent. You can collect multiple powerups such as stronger missles, air mines, stealth and a few others. Ground combat is not nearly as exciting but you can still have a shoot up Halo style when you are walking on the ground. Of course it is always effective to drive over your opponent with a jeep.

The co-op play is a nice feature. Have 4 screens on at once while playing online, similar to Halo.

So I think the max amount of players on a match is 32. The games they have Deathmatch, team deatmatch, capture the flag, and Zones (where you have to take over each checkpoint all the way to attack the opponents base).

Now this is a multiplayer only game. There is not even a mission mode available at all. I have been reading several boards about the creators of Warhawk. The company seems very involved with the development of the game. They constantly read and even contact users that post on the Playstation message boards to find ways to improve the game. So it would appeear they will continue to add new levels and features to the game as it progresses.

This is one of the few solid titles to come out for the PS3 so far, but I say this is certainly a worthy buy.

I must say I have really enjoyed playing this game. It is no Halo killer but it certainly gives what I am looking for in a FPS multiplayer game.

I can only assume in the future they will release new and better maps.

I know I'm going to rent this one. If it's good I'll buy the store version, if only to get a headset. Hopefully I can use it with other games (I'm assuming you can but you never know )

I played it for about 3 hours today, good fun but I wouldn't say there is anything too outstanding about it. The flying part and some of the levels remind me of a game called Crimson Skies for Xbox.

Superb game IMO.

Only problem is trying to get connected to a server.

This one uses the six axis for flight controls, right? How is it?

this one definitely does not use the SixAxis for flight.

My ID is SharpObject if anyone is looking for some Warhawk action.

Are you sure? I read you could use sixaxis as well as regular controls for flying.

I don't remember seeing that in the options, I will double check and return back with more info.

When I played it at E3 in 2006, you could fly the with the sixaxis, but it was obviously a very early demo. At the time it didn't feel that good, but I was wondering if they improved it later.

I just rented it today, finally. Initial impressions are kinda hit or miss. The flying takes a little to get used to but I keep getting blown out of the sky horribly, what a noob. The other vehicles are alright. On foot, my biggest complaint (right now) is the sniper rifle. I love sniping. IMO Resistance has one of the best sniper rifle set ups, so it's a little hard to adjust. So this is something to get used to. Graphically the game looks great and sharp. I have a little problem with the screen size, it's getting cut off on the corners so I can't see some of the weapons info, etc. I'll use the sixasis tomorrow to fly, hopefully that will be a good experience.

1/2 day review: Good, would probably buy the downloadable version because I haven't needed the headset yet.

Final Review:
Pretty good game. I think I'll buy it online and not the box version (I don't need a headset). I'm a little worried that if my PS3 ever craps out on me (I've had a couple PS2s, hence my concern) that how can I get it on another system. Can anyone address how this would work? I find that I'm a better infantry than a pilot. The rank system climbs really high. Personally, I think it climbs too fast. I was a noob for so long. My K/D ratio I'm sure is horrible. For fast fun multiplayer it's pretty good. I'd love to see a combo of this and Resistance, that would be possibly the best game ever.

As long as you have your username and password to your online account you're fine.

After you log in, goto the Playstation store and go to "downloaded items". From there you can re-download anything you've purchased on that account.

You can actually use that to share your purchased games on up to 5 consoles, which works for every game except Warhawk. Warhawk makes it so that different machines can't play a license within 3 days of each other.

The 1.1 Version of Warhawk is now out. You will notice all your stats and medals remain, but you now start again at your rank.

The connection problems are now very rare. Version 1.2 will include several new maps, and I believe a few more things to drive or fly.

i bought it online. so far it's proving to be a most excellent use of $40. getting started this late on the game and also being a keyboard/mouse fps snob for so long, it's a trial by fire. expect a lot of death and confusion when you first start playing this one. getting locked on, not knowing how to lock on, etc was especially difficult. i recently read the weapon faq at gamefaqs.com, and that was fairly insightful. i'd like to see coverage of basic game stuff like capturing, because i still don't know how that works. i should troll around some warhawk forums for that stuff, hopefully there are good stickies.
