There is a very simple formula to a great GDQ run which I nailed back in January 2014, Bonesaw nailed in July 2013, etc, yet most speedrunners are too socially inept to figure it out, ending up with terrible runs and performances.
The event has pretty much lost all credibility within the runners who matter in the community (which is why you don't see Siglemic, Cosmo, Werster, etc there anymore) for a plethora of reasons... lack of transparency with the charity money, poor run and runner selection, runs being delayed due to setup times (which apparently they still haven't figured out?)
It's a complete mystery to us how this event gets bigger and bigger despite the quality becoming so much worse every time. I guess it's just become a peripheral thing in the subconscious of the mainstream gaming community and everyone tunes in to see their favourite old game, or some epic cringe?
