Haha, well my APM is usually around 75 so I'm halfway there! Here's a really broad view of how I currently open in most cases:

TvZ - reaper expand, reactor on Rax, Factory, switch Factory to reactor for ~6 hellions
TvP - reaper expand, get 3 rax before factory
TvT - trying to decide. Most Ts I face do 1-base early-ish agression, so my reaper expand is failing pretty hard. Might try the banshee, rushing for tanks, or 3rax stim (open, NOT cheese)

I don't use reapers very offensively because I either lose it stupidly or my macro falls apart as a result. Usually I scout, maybe kill a worker or two, and get out and scout around and try to spot the 3rd base timing with it. I don't really have the multitasking ability - dropping in the main and attacking at the front is about the pinnacle of my multitasking ability.

i figure with 75 apm multitasking is pretty hard, id think hellions are not really worth it. def not 6. a little map control and vision is good but i know i t can be a pain to micro them or make them serve any purpose

i dont play enough to comment on tvp but i hate this matchup and expect to lose if it goes past like 10-12m

if you are losing to early aggression just open quick tanks and be super safe. gasless 1 rax fe into tanks followed by marines, or open banshee and use them to scout what the reaper cannot by then anyway.

Well I started going hellions after bobman's post, and it has worked out pretty well against all the dumb ling-bane stuff:

...Maybe I should scale down to 4. Generally I use them to make sure I'm not dying to any dumb ling/bane all-in and then get out and use them to scout around and deny creep and harass as zerg tries to get up their 3rd. I find them pretty useful defensively although they're admittedly useless against roaches.

Now that swarm hosts are gone, what's my ideal composition against a Terran who goes mass thor with hellbat support? I'm pretty sure roaches aren't involved, because they are terrible.

Barely, I think? Not enough that you can kite very effectively (like, 11.5 to 11 or something like that). If they add vikings you won't be able to sustain an air army.

I went into a unit tester to try a few things and 15 thors (90 supply) on full upgrades killed 90 supply of any Zerg units I could put together. I honestly thought lings might be able to do it, because the high damage of thors wouldn't matter as much and they'd get a ton of surface area, but still 5 thors survived.

I wasn't able to test brood lords because the unit tester didn't have the "thors auto-shoot air" patch, so they'd derp out and shoot at broodlings and die. You don't really want to be trapped into going brood lords against a mech Terran, though.

I would go mass roach + Neural Parasite infestors

Good people would probably just make ultralisks + queens.

Really? Like, in my test, I think 90 supply of roaches killed maybe a few thors. I'm not exaggerating when I say they're terrible.

Some random research after messing around with a library that parses SC2 replays:



This is based on 270 replays from GSL Season 3 last year, the WCS Finals, and GSL/SSL Season 1 of this year; each bar is a set of 30 games.

I'm mostly interested in comparing this against the replays that come out for season 2, following the swarm host nerf, both to see:
a.) how general game length changes in ZvT/ZvP
b.) if Zerg's lategame winrate drops even farther, and is perhaps made up for with an increase in early/midgame wins

Ya man you NP a couple of the thors while target firing the enemy thors. If you have enough to where you can 1 or 2 shot them you can trade pretty efficiently.

But yeah I think ultras with transfuse are the best counter to ground things that aren't immortals/siege tanks/marauders.


I also got into Beta but can't figure out how to install it from the Battle.net application

not sure how to deal with storm other than attack before a toss gets storm. do they really expect me to cloak ghosts and emp those ****ers while the toss just gets to hit a button and kill my entire army?
