PS4/5 discussion thread - Page 14 - Video Games

I wonder how cost effective it would be for Sony to partner up with Amazon EC2 for a similar server infrastructure. I doubt Sony has the experience or desire to do something like that inhouse, definitely not the time, but seems to be one of the only definite advantages the XBox has over the PS 4.

So, is PS4 NOT going to write games to the hdd, and read them from bluray instead? I bought the latest Tiger woods for PS3 and it was unplayable due to excessive read times.

Ideally, it would write to hdd and need the bluray in the drive as a key. Anyone know how they approch this? If it's only read-from-disc, that's a big point in the xbox's favor.

How do you know that? PS3 could save to disk.

Also the PS3 had a 1x BR reader, so that thing was slooooooooooow. Maybe the 4 has a faster reader?

I mean it's possible, but assuming it had to be installed or had some awesome feature to lower loading times do you not think we would have heard about it at E3 of all places?

I'm guessing that a lot of that has to do with PS4 allowing self publishing. I personally know at least 10 people/teams that have been approved as Sony developers recently. Sony and Nintendo seem to be just throwing them at anybody. If you have at least an iOS game on the market that isn't a complete pos then you can get one easily. I'm sure the deals with Unity also has a lot to do with it.

Steam has shown how awesome a big platform can be for indies and from what I'm hearing it's even easier to get on Sony and Nintendo.

I think it will take time before they can get everything out of the ps4. Look at what is possible already now on the ps3 compared to a few years ago. 2 or 3 years down the line ps4 games will look amazing i think.

yeah but i think it will look even more amazing in a few years. Look at GTA 4 and 5, both ps3 games. difference between first uncharted and last of us in detail and physics and AI.

much more complex AI that could create alot of different unique outcomes in 1 level. Think of an AI that will try to trick you with more complex emotions, or a mexican standoff situation like you have in the cellar in inglourious basterds. Completly destructable world etc.

then why havent we seen almost no games with complex AI yet? Not syaing your wrong as i dont know much about this kind of thing and got it from some obscure article

. Just curious. As it seems a really good AI would much improve the whole experience.
