I still haven't caught a Pikachu. Seen quite a few times. Once, I ran out of balls, the other couple, he ran away.

Just had a Gengar run too. But I have over 100 Ghastly candies now to evolve my Haunter, so meh.

Anybody know what happens when you go to a pokestop and you have maxed out your items, but have less than 9 eggs? Do you get eggs randomly like usual, or will it auto give you eggs?

It will say that your bag is full.

Good to know, thanks. Went on a pokestop run and thankfully got egg #9 right before my bag got full.

Have a question about which of the following I should evolve to get my first Dragonite.

My 681CP Dratini with an IV of 56. Calculator shows it will become a ~2550CP Dragonite.
Or my 978CP Dragonair with an IV of 89. Calculator shows it will become a ~1970CP. Dragonite.

Is the increase in IV worth the ~600CP drop. I kinda think it is but I'm not positive.

I hatched a Dratini from a 10k to get me to 110 candies so I could evolve the Dragonair now. Don't think I'll have time to walk my buddy enough by the time halloween special ends, so it could be a bit before I have enough candies to evolve the Dratini (have seen 4 Dratini and 1 Dragonair in the wild. Rest of candies come from a couple hatched Dratini and walking.

TIA

Edit - Halloween special ends at midnight EST Tuesday, right?

If you don't want to wait until you eventually get to 125 candies just evolve the Dragonair now.

If you want a high CP Dragonite without investing into it evolve the Dratini when you have enough candy.

If you want the best possible Dragonite you can get evolve the Dragonair and invest Stardust + more candies into it to power it up.

Anyway move set is more important and there's no way of knowing what you'll get. Afaik the impact of IVs is pretty overrated, more IV will make for a better Pokemon but not by that much.

Well, it kinda matters more for a Dragonite. The better the IVs, the closer to 3500 CP you can get.

This is pretty interesting. I didn't care much about IV's until it seemed to important not to care and now I think i may be paying too much attention to it as opposed to before when not enough. It's kind of hard to quantify or even estimate the impact of the difference and sometimes choices are kinda made blind, just guessing.

For example I got my 400 candies and was thinking of evolving my 90% 145 Magikarp instead of my 84% 155 magikarp because i figured that 6% in EV > the stardust+candies needed to reach CP's but not sure now

where do you go to see IV's and %'s?

I went to pogobag a couple times but stopped bc I don't want to get my acct banned.

and that gauge thing on the pokemon's page is a general idea of %, right?

Today's the day I say goodbye to my Magikarp buddy. I have 407 candy now and it's time for a new buddy. We walked 205.5km together and now he'll be sacrificed for 2 more candy.

Funny thing is I expected to catch a better Magikarp than the 1 I have now 145CP 93% IV. I don't want to evolve him and only get an average Gyrados.

I also have a power up question which of these would people power up?

Snorlax
1716CP 76%IV Zen Headbutt/Body Slam lvl20
1100CP 60% IV Lick/Earthquake lvl 13
1033CP 69%IV Lick/Hyperbeam lvl 12

I have 53 candy and if I did the math right I have just enough candy to max out the level 12 up to level 25. I'm a level 24. Also stardust isn't an issue I have over 400,000.

If stardust was an issue would that change who you powered up?

I don't ever power up but lately I've been the bottom Pokemon in level 10 gyms and for some reason the kill my Pokemon and leave it level 9. I was thinking of powering up my biggest guys so they are 3rd or 4th from the bottom for more protection.

Still that's a lot of stardust you might want to use later. Zen Headbutt/Body Slam is a good combo so you might just want to level that up.

That seems pretty good. Typically the carps coming out of eggs are level 140-150.

Average IV coming from an egg ~80% so 145 93% seems good enough to evolve imi

Thanks for the input all. I think I'm going to evolve the dragonair I have. Instead of using a total of 125 candies to evolve the Dratini, if I use those to evolve + power up the Dragonair, the CP becomes much closer and the better IV allows the evolved Dragonair to eventually become much stronger than the evolved Dratini

Here's hoping for a strong moveset.

Edit - Got steel wing/Dragon claw. Is this the worst? Because it seems like it.

Ive been playing pretty much since it came out in the UK and i finally managed to collect a second time from a gym. Took a gym over 2 days ago, stuck my snorlax in there, and its still there! Unreal

Things have slowed down where I'm at. I've had 3 gyms for 3-4 days now. One of them has been there almost two weeks and it's at a McDonald's of all places. I think in addition to the lower traffic (less people playing/kids in school/cold weather), letting you train with 6 pokemon instead of 1 has made it extremely easy to add prestige to a gym. Almost every gym I see now is level 9-10 which I think gives people less motivation to battle if they know they don't have the time/items to take it down.

DC trip whatever number it is now was not a success in the sense of getting either the Lapras or Aerodactyl, which is hardly a surprise. Although I did pick up 4 10k eggs, two of which are still cooking, so there's still a smidgen of hope (the other two were an Eevee and a Scyther.).

Did evolve another Dragonite with all the walking and a couple of catches, as well as another Blastoise and Arcanine. I also have all of the Ghastly candy I could ever need. Nabbed another Grimer to start a second Muk.

Nothing really spectacular, but I know from talking to multiple people that Lapras DO spawn down there with some regularity. I just have to get lucky and be there when it happens. Or eventually I just give up. :P

Ive hatched 6 10k eggs this halloween:

Chanseyx2
Onix
Magmar
Hitmonchan
Lapras

Im not sure if 1 Lapras makes up for the utter uselessness of the other 5 eggs. Feel a little tilted all the same.

Tomorrow is still part of the promotion right?

1 day 2 hours.

There's a counter on the website.

https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg It says Expected so it isn't official.

It's about 55,000 stardust

I was thinking it was too much but thought the move set might make it worth it.

I'll probably power up the biggest and hope I hatch/ catch another high CP one with better moves.

for the past week for the first time since I started playing I'm collecting the max of 10 pokecoins every morning. Now I just need to maintain my territory like a ruthless druglord

I also have my first Dragonite and the thing is a beast for taking down gyms. What a waste it would be putting him in a gym

I don't think you did the math right.

https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/power-up-costs

looks like 12->25 would cost you 64k stardust and 61 candy.

If you are interested in using this as a defender, the high cp snorlax is a no brainer. You can max it out now, still have candy left to upgrade again later after leveling up. And it does a lot more damage than the others. defenders quick attacks all use same attack speed, so lick does less than half the damage of zen headbutt. Body slam is also a lot harder to dodge than hyperbeam.
