Sunk cost fallacy? Surely better to get rrrr/rrrb on an item more likely to roll it?

I dunno what the odds are but let's say it's 2/3 to roll green and 1/6 to roll non-green. You'd average 1300 chromatics to get RRRR.

I just thought I was extremely unlucky. It was only after running out of chroms I even considered there was a weighted frequency. Now I know I'll use my non-existent chroms to rearrange my stuff around.

Nice, power flickered while I was surrounded by 5 dudes but somehow I'm still in nemisis. Upto 27 and back to act 3 on this 2hd sword ranger. Geeze this is much easier the second time. Frenzy proving to be a PITA to keep up with, maybe going to drop it, I'm not sure yet.

Do you have clarity and a ~60% mana regen amulet? You can probably reroll some rings until you get regen on those too. I think I'm on 120 mana regen per second on my 66 FP shadow and ultimately want to drop any passives with regen on if I can.

On a related note, what do the lightning rangers do when they use quill rain? How are they doing damage later on? I see the idea of lots of shock + 3 or more APS but surely it's still not enough?

If it's viable I quite like the idea of going max frenzy charge + quill rain + constant shock.

My gloves are the uniques ones with mana leech.

I think I prefer the implicit regen rather than leech where possible because I tend to **** up and fire more pulses than I really need. Conversely, you don't want to over-leech because it's a waste of gear slots.

How do bosses handle leech? How quickly does Piety regen her mana for example?

So orbs of chance can now turn things into uniques? woops, been using those lately to try for items while leveling since I figured I would be using alch's when I went for power gear later.

Yeah! After my ranger died, she was at like 13 hours played at level 41. My second guy was back to 26 in like 7 hours. And this 3rd guy is at 24 in about 5. I'm figuring out that pl'ing past the monsters and then just blowing through it all in a big public group is so much faster

They've always been able to but I don't think the odds are worth it, by and large.

They always could turn items into uniques, but now you can get uniques of a higher lvl than the ilvl of the base item you're chancing.

it's just because the uniques no longer have same ilvl as the base item, but their own.

Are we talking about the things that turn items into blues? If so, are those used as currency(trading on forums), if not, are they worth using to upgrade some of my current slots to level faster?
Path of Exile Quote

No, orbs of transmutation turn whites into blues. Alteration orbs then reroll the blue. Transmutation orbs are not used as currency afaik. Alts are the lowest form of currency, along with Chromatic orbs (which rerolls colors of sockets). Alts/Chroms:Chaos are something like 18-20:1

They are talking about orbs of chance which turn a white into magic/rare/unique. Obv the odds to turn something unique are ridic though, probably a couple hundred to 1 of not more, so they are pretty worthless too.

I find transmutation to be unfairly maligned. Until you're doing maps and levelling really slowly, they're quite useful. You can buy a good rolled ring from a vendor then transmute it and sometimes it'll turn out great. Not to mention you can buy surgeon's flasks that are worth 1 alch shard, or just seething life potions at each level until you have 3 of each.

I need to go through your list of stuff and get your cheap stuff.

Rauder 2h mace, going the newbie friendly ground slam/blood magic route.

You definitely get faster clearing normal as you play more and realize you don't have to waste time nitpicking over every stat until you get into cruel and onward. I think I got to level 34ish in a 3 hr race with a couple friends back in beta.

It's also much easier to level up alts once you have a good stash of leveling gear/uniques.

Yeah, I basically just buy whites and blues from the vendor that are upgrades in dps. Or I'll use whatever drops that fits my sockets. Dps > hp > whatever.

Quill rain + lightning arrow + cast on crit + maybe fireball? Lots of +global crit items and passives. Hmm!

If I need a specific piece because I have jumped several levels since I have upgraded it, I look for an appropriate white item with good sockets then gambooool with an orb of chance. If it turns blue I may still use it (and may blow a reroll or augmentation on it). I don't have data to back this up, but I feel like I get a yellow about 20% of the time. The damn color changing orbs otoh just like to taunt me. But they are not worth much at all.

Also, I like to use the relatively worthless transmutes on rings, necklaces, and flasks, but once I have all yellow jewelry, not so much.
