I cant wait for this game!!!!! Ive played the first, 2nd and the Fallout tacticts which imo was the best of this game altogether!! I know Im not the only one sweating this game. I think Im gonna go back to tactics and play it a bit more cuz I luv this line of games more then any other.

I woulda preferred something similar to previous styles instead of the current situation, but I'm just happy the series isn't going to end with Brotherhood of Steel.

Obviously it's not going to be in the same realm as Fallout I and II as far as quality, but I think this has potential to be pretty solid.

Well, Oblivion kinda sucked. A lot.

Yeah, they are approaching the project with something resembling the appropriate gravity, and Fallout beats no Fallout.

But it would be nice to get something like the originals again.

That was just a perfect storm of a studio operating at peak form.

The NMA-influenced idea that Tim Cain and Troika would've made Fallout 3 exactly what they wanted(before evil, evil Bethesda sneakily stole the rights) bizarrely ignores that A) Troika has never made a game remotely as good as either Fallout and more importantly B) Planescape: Torment, arguably the best Black Isle game, was made after the Troika guys left.

It's incredibly rare that any game could ever hope to be as good as Fallout 1 or 2, because those are legitimate "Best game of all time, any genre" contenders. If Fallout 3 is as good as a typical "RPG of the Year" type, I'll be ecstatic. If it's Game of the Year caliber, fantastic. But setting up expectations that it will be the best game of the decade is just the sort of thing that allows the emotionally deviant to confirm their own irrational hatreds.

Basically, I hate No Mutants Allowed because they do more than exemplify what's wrong with gamers, they exemplify what's wrong with HUMANITY. Entitlement complex, groupthink circlejerks, unjustified air of superiority...

Also, I never played Fallout 1 or 2 because I was a busto middle/high school student when they came out, so I hope this game is cool so I can experience the series.

start playing fallout1 now. i just started up fallout2 again on saturday.

this game will not be as good as either 1 or 2 and there is no other way to experience them.

Anyone who hasn't played Fallout 1 and 2 really needs to. They are a truly unique experience, even though they were tremendously acclaimed nobody has tried to recapture the "real choices+tactical combat+good writing" thing that they did.

You won't experience the series by playing this game. First person is a much different experience than the original viewpoint.

Let's just hope this new take on the series will be good.

I have to admit, while I can play old games like Doom that I still have fond memories of (although even Doom is fairly brutal w/o source ports that up the resolution a bit), for games I haven't played before I don't know if I can handle this:
