Far Cry Primal was just released last year. Considering the typical dev cycle, I doubt they "drew from it quite a bit." Instead, they simply implemented open world elements featured in many open world games, such as Far Cry.

Edit: wow that came off as bitchy. it's just a pet peeve when people infer parallel inspirations like that

There is about a 0% chance they took anything from any other game. But because it has similar systems to a ton people will relate it to what ever game they just played.

there is an 100% chance they took lots of things from other games because it's impossible not to

Knowingly? As in stealing?

Or what I was referring to was all things overlap therefore to each his own on how you look at it.

Like the guy played Far Cry so he sees Far Cry in Zelda. I've never played Far Cry so would have no idea of the correlations.

Nintendo didn't know what Xbox Live was when they released the Wii U, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know what Far Cry is. With that said it's clear they've taken inspiration from other games with BOTW, I think Dark Souls is the more obvious one.

After, oh, IDK, about 12 hours of Zelda game play, unit is working great and the game is amazing. I've mostly been playing with the Pro Controller (did this with my Wii U as well) and on my TV so can't comment on handheld, but if I ever want to leave my bedroom with the game that'll come into play soon. Today I literally just laid around in bed all day and played Zelda. Loved it.

So I made it to the boss of the desert camel thing and he kills me in one hit. This was the first of the 4 things that I went to. Is there some order here? I feel like I'm way too weak for certain areas.

Fml I've got a dead pixel. Now I have to decide if I want to take it back and return it to Walmart and then have to wait until the next batch gets in and even then they probably can't guarantee I'll get one. Ugh...not sure it's worth it. It's very small of course but occasionally noticeable

I think that one is considered the hardest one but if it kills you in one hit, you're low on hearts. Either spam some shrines or cook up something with a bunch of "hearty" ingredients.

I did the elephant first and the lizard last night and found the second one to be disappointingly easy, probably due to stronger weapons and more hearts and stamina.

That sucks man, mine was small too but it was right in the middle and I couldn't stand it. Did it come with the dead pixel or did it show up while you had it?

Yeah for sure it is. Did the zora one pretty easily and read somewhere that the order goes something like elephant, bird, lizard thing, camel. But obv its up to you, saw some guy on youtube speed run the game in 1 hr with only 3 hearts.

It just showed up after the 2nd use. I turned it on for use #3 (all in portable mode) and it was right there middle right. I'm not much of a technology person but I figured I'd take it back in case it got worse. Walmart took it back and refunded me as they didn't have any more to just to do an exchange. So now I get to do the looking game again. At least Walmart didn't have any issues with the return. It sounds like Nintendo isn't standing behind the dead pixel issue at all.

Yeah, Nintendo saying the various issues, like dead pixels and disconnecting remotes, areactually Working As Intended has to be one of the more disgraceful things I've seen a company do lately.

That sucks spimp, at least you could refund it and are not stuck with it.

Yeah it's ****, especially when it's clearly happening to a few people. I think they went cheap with a few components. Sony do the same thing with dead pixels except they also make TV's and phones etc and it applies to those too. You need to have at least 3 dead pixels for Sony to consider it a defect. My launch PSP had a dead pixel, still has it.

The consumer's solution to the dead pixels (and other issues) is not to buy the thing. I'm playing BotW on the Wii U my son has. It actually has a better refresh rate than the Switch. You can get a used Wii U for cents on the dollar now.

yeah, I was actually surprised some many people got their switch exchanged over a dead pixel, it's not common practice

Went for a refurb Wii U, excited to play BotW and have access to VC games again. Dunno if I can get the WW HD version I had on my last console or not. Probably requires a call to Nintendo.

I'm guessing it'll be at least a year until they roll out a fixed switch so I don't mind waiting.

What is the going rate for a used Wii U that is able to play BotW?

Nintendo is directly selling discounted 32gb refurbs on eBay for $200 (possibly only for a couple more days). They're like $280 on amazon from Nintendo. GameStop sells refurbs for $250. Average eBay auction for used is around $180 + shipping.

Still didn't open the Switch box or done anything with it. Last night we basically offered it to me brother in law for free and he wasn't interested. I guess it's just going back to Target.

i bet a lot of people on here would pay you a little extra for it, to cover shipping and for your time.

Or if you want to be that guy, you could make $200 profit selling it on eBay or Craigslist.

Wii U is awesome if you don't want a Switch. I let my brother use mine for BOTW and he's noticed no problems or difference when he compared it to my Switch copy. He likes the Wii U so much he's going to his own.
