I'm playing poker because MiniFTOPS is going on, but am I the only one who plays half-heartedly because I don't care if I get knocked out and can play MW2? I'm only trying to satty into ME and not really hoping to get in.

Ninja-esque edit: Only alive in 2 tourneys, not playing ME, 3 hour sessions of MW2 here I come!

I'm a big fan of sniping in general, and probably use sniper classes about 40% of the time. It very much depends on the map, obviously. Estate, Wasteland, and Derail are clearly best for sniping, but it also can work well on Invasion, Afghan, Quarry, Underpass.

Its necessary to either have a safe spot to camp out with plenty of good sight lines, or a range of decent spots (but a large enough team that you won't get snuck up on from behind). While you'll spend most of your time sitting and waiting for tangoes to come into view, you should move around some if:
A) you've just gotten a kill or a few and are in a somewhat vulnerable spot. Chances are they're coming after you once they see the killcam
B) Its clear that your opponents are far away, and you should move to a better vantage point. Also, you'll have time to do so safely since they are nowhere near you.
but generally you'll be moving from sniping spot to sniping spot, rather than trucking into the middle of a firefight like the non-snipers.

Always be aware of where your team is. You'll be able to guess where the opponents are (by where your team is not) and you'll know where you are most vulnerable so you can set up claymores or pay better attention or move to a more protected spot.

On maps where I'll be more stationary and have longer sight lines (Invasion, Estate, Derail...), I prefer to use the intervention. On maps where I'll be moving around more and have medium-long sight lines (Afghan, Quarry, Underpass...), I prefer the M21 (large clip + low recoil, so you can get a few rounds off if they see you before you get the kill).

Secondary: Raffica, LDO. Its a beast. Have it out when you're moving around in close quarters or in the proximity of tangoes.

Perks/attachments: Stopping power is a must, because you won't necessarily have a chance for more than one shot. I use bling with the M21 and sleight of hand with the intervention. I use ninja for the last, though commando might also be a good option. I like to have a heartbeat sensor on both. When I see a long-range red blip I sight up and wait for him to show his face, when I see a close one or one moving towards me I'll switch to raffica, hide, and wait for him.

Equipment: I like claymores, but you could probably choose whatever you prefer here. Same with special grenades, though smoke is obv the best choice if you're using thermal.

Killstreaks: As a sniper you won't get quite as many high streaks, and you have more to gain from knowing where your opponents are, so something like UAV-carepkg-predator/sentry might work nicely. If you're confident that you can get to 5 kills, the more traditional predator-harrier-pavelow/CG/AC130 is great on most of the maps that sniping is good on.

Agree with DJ but I prefer silenced PP2000 to the mini-m16. I just don't like burst fire guns in general though.

invasion as a sniper is fun.

just get claymores + scavenger, and camp in the huge compound at the back of the map. there are only two stair cases up, and the ladder on the side.

claymore at one, kill a guy, claymore the other side, and just make sure no one creeps up the ladder.

and if you miss someone and they breach, just switch to silenced PP and camp the non claymored stairs.

kill the guy, put a claymore on his body

the dick2k is dirty.

hq, last one alive + trapped in that office warehouse building on derail + scar and pp2000 = me going insane killing 100 people before running out of ammo and knifing someone to gain the survivor title.

Ya thats pretty much exactly what I like to do (though I feel like I need stopping power so I can't use scavenger). I'll usually swap in tactical insertion though and put it in the little computer room, and rarely are they good enough to kill me and then kill me again after I respawn, so I can hold the compound down for the whole game most of the time.

It bothers me when the opponents don't ever come to my side of the map, but then I'll usually just move up the right flank. You can lay down behind the concrete barriers and see between them all the way down that road. If nobody is around even then, you can just move up further and still have pretty good sniping spots at the cross-streets.

Ah yes. I guess scavenger would work fine instead of bling/sleight, then, though its not too often that you'll get any 'customers' in the compound.

What's the reason you can't hear anything with them? Interference or are they just too quiet?

Anyone else have an opinion on the X1's vs the X31's?

if you snipe 3 or 4 guys from the compound, they make it a priority to "get you"

then the claymore/scavenger/claymore fun begins

i got 8 claymore kills in one life yesterday on Derail using my ninja+claymore class

UMP/silenced
PP2000/silenced
claymore
scav
cold
ninja
stun

the middle building only has two stairs up

so claymore the wide steps, then stand ON the railing of the other steps. they walk up, you shoot them in the top of the head, jump down (you get a claymore, plant it, then go upstairs

8 claymores, 1 life, i know they were getting tilted, but it was awesome

also, you need to move the claymores around. sometimes waaaay downstairs right when you leave the snow, othertimes on the steps when you go up half and turn, then right at the very top of the steps.

so much fun this game
