isnt 4 bars max? must be 5 on xbox. i always have the worst connection, without fail. when i have 2 bars they have at least 3. every game ive ever been in with 3 bars, every one else had 4. i played like 10 games as the host once, which is my only experience with 4 bar play, and went at least +15 every time.

is there some kind of glitch on favela on the rooftop with the plants? twice now ive gone up there and shot at a guy crouched in the corner and it seemed like the bullets didnt penetrate through the plants. coulda just been lag though but i dumped the clip both times and hit nothing.

no 4 bars is the max. if you have all of them and claim to be lagging i think you are either misunderstanding lag, or a spoiled whore (as stated)

The bars just measure ping AFAIK, so if you're losing a lot of packets you can have a bad 4 bar connection.

One thing I do know is that I rarely had a problem with three bar connections in COD4. WaW was absolutely awful and unplayable without the host spot. MW2 is more like WaW imo.

Seriously. I almost never had lag problems with COD4, unless everyone did. The backend of MW2 seems much worse.

Idk I got X31s like a week ago and I've sucked since using them. I've got surround sound on both my TVs though and never heard footsteps then, and still don't hear them. I think I've heard a total of one person sneaking up on me with the headset. Usually I just hear gunshots in the distance, or glass breaking across the map, and then all of a sudden *shick* and dead. Knifed from behind by some guy using MLC (marathon lightweight commando) who managed to sprint up the stairs and across the room without me hearing a thing.

i can see myself getting extremely bored with this game when i hit 70. they need to put out a new version of nazi zombies or smth.

i feel like i'm going to just start playing this game to try and get a nuke every round.

So they are basically trying to throttle P2P connections for a "faster network". Well something is ****ed up because games need to send very little data. If I have 10mbps down and 2mbps up I should be allowed to use a freakin' 10th of that and not have problems.

I never had problems with comcast or cogeco.

There are lots of people saying they couldn't host COD4, WAW, and now MW2

this. but really your connection determines how you can play. I've played enough to know when I should and shouldn't kill a guy face to face and running and gunning face to face with 3 bars is a losing strategy in MW2 if you're against a competent host or 4 bar. If you go cold blooded + ninja pro you can run and gun but mostly you're flanking and shooting people in the back, sides or have decent dark spots etc. You're not really outgunning someone face to face.

3 bars I think it's best play long range battles where connection isn't a big issue. 2 and 1 bars is just lame I'm already behind a building or rock on my screen but of course I'm dead.

On PC the default option for the bars is 1 bar = 100ms. So,

4 bars < 100ms
3 bars < 200ms
2 bars < 300ms
1 bar > 300ms

If this is the same on consoles, 2 and 1 bar is completely unplayable. 3 is definitely pushing it, especially if you're at the top of that range. I wouldn't even play in servers with higher than 100ms when I was a PC gamer.

I think the consoles are 50ms per bar, but I could be wrong. It says "Searching 50ms games..." or something to that effect on 360. Since my entire FPS strategy is based on reaction time and not really hiding in Burger Town then shooting villains in the back when they run by, the 50-100ms range is where it starts to get dicey for me.

I prestiged last weekend. Not sure if it's worth it, really. Some of the challenges are hard to get and I hated to give them up to try and do it again. Now I have to unlock the tactical knife again for my lolknife class, which really sucked the first time. Anyone have any tips to make that a bit easier?

go to hardcore and use USP as ur sidearm on all ur classes. I got the tac knife in like a day of hardcore tdm

I just unlocked some silencers for my PP2000 and USP in FFA - that is such an EZ game, I went like 27-26 with my USP only on Terminal and finished in 2nd, then won the next map (Quarry) after getting my last two USP kills and switching to silenced USP, then on Rundown I insta-died after spawning to start the match before then rattling off a 21 killstreak on the way to a 30-5 finish (2nd place had 10 kills when I ended it).

jus went 97-40 with akimbo 1887s and lightweight class. Only got to my chopper gunner once and they took it down asap...was soooo pissed i didn't get to 100.

So I was just playing, found a game with this red bar guy in FFA, and he totally butt****ed everybody in the game for three rounds. I stayed just to see WTF was going on, and I'm 100% convinced something weird is up. If he's not tampering or taking advantage of something, then he's the best player that's ever played this game. I never killed the guy once in a gunfight, and I think all of his deaths were to a tactical knifer.
