I thought about this all day yesterday and don't agree with it. I think UAV is basically a wasted spot if you are trying to put up big scores, especially if you are on a good team. I think the ultimate goal should be to get to the chopper gunner, so we need to figure out which two slots maximize our chances of doing so. I could be underestimating the emergency drop slot though, as I'm not familiar enough with it to know how many additional kills it's usually worth. Oh, and hardline makes this easier since the difference in a 4 vs. 5 streak seems significant. I do agree that going for EMP/nuke is probably too difficult and would not be optimal for maximizing kills.

(My theory is based on going for max kills, not max wins)

I think you're right. If you're using the airdrop then it should be your last reward since you'd have to get from 5 (sentry/predator) to 11 (chopper/AC130) with nothing to help you in between. If somebody could estimate kill EV for each reward we could calculate an overall kill EV for the emergency airdrop. It might be worth more than a chopper once you discount chopper for difficulty of getting 3 more kills.

lul, just raised my KDR by .02 in 2 matches in a lobby with a lvl 28 idiot and his lvl 1 friend. then they tried to put those kids on our team so i backed out. cod bumhunting FTW!!!11onetwothree

I play mostly ground war, and 5/7/11 is def the right move imo

Although UAV is super useful obv, as you begin to learn the maps and places that ppl camp, the best routes to flank, the best spots to camp when you are roaming + camping, etc, that the usefulness of the UAV goes down compared to the usefulness of getting 5/7/11 chopper gunner/ac130. Plus if you have a heartbeat monitor that partially takes the place of the UAV anyways.

god i could prob be convinced to give up harrier for an emergency airdrop.this would prob only happen if i knew how to calculate my chances of getting something better, or equal to the harrier.then i could finally figure out my optimal exploitative cod game theory muahaha

problem with the emergency drop packages is that they don't add towards your total killstreak count which is ok for some but i like to nuke :P.

i realized what i have been doing wrong this entire time. no more sprinting, unless it is for a purpose, i.e. getting away from an enemy with an empty clip, nades, etc. also when turning corners keep my sights aimed in. i have been doing so much better when i am careful of both of these dirty habits.

Sniper rifles with ACOGs in this game are LOL ridiculous, and it's like an instant kill. This game needs to be patched...big time

From what I have read, the odds for the first care package are reversed in awesomeness. So its like 3:1 you;ll get a UAV, 5:1 you'll get a Predator, etc. Whereas with the emergency airdrop I have heard that your chances of getting ANY killstreak are equal minus the EMP, which is less, and the nuke, which is never.

Okay so as I said above, we assume that the items you can get in the crate are:

-Predator
-Precision Airstrike
-Harrier Strike*
-Attack Helicopter*
-Pave Low*

So we can get 11 different items. Of these items, 5.5 of them would be better or equal to a harrier. This makes things kinda easy since 5.5/11 = 1/2

Unless my stats for what is in the airdrop is wayyyy off, it looks like the emergency airdrop is a super huge steal. Of course you have to take away some equity for drops on roof/off map/unretrieved items/items stolen by other team.

I guess I could be misinterpreting him saying "evens up the chances", he could just mean they get a little closer and not that they get to 50%.

Yeah, you guys are explaining how to set up your rewards to get the highest kill streak. I can't tell you that you're objectively wrong to have that as a goal, but if you want the highest KDR, highest score, or the most wins(all of which are IMO much better goals than "highest kill streak") wasting a spot on an 11 kill streak reward is a hudge leak unless you have a >5 KDR or something where 11 kill streaks are reasonably common results.

Since the only real advantage of the 11 kill streak gunner rewards over the emergency care package is that those kills count towards a streak, having an 11 kill streak as your TOP killstreak is a leak within a leak. At least go all out with like Predator/AC130/Nuke. That's terrible, but at least you're committed to the cause.

Kill streaks do more than just help your KDR, so if you want to win you want to be throwing up as many rewards as possible. That's why the emergency care streak is the absolutely highest streak you should pick. I'm not sure if it's worth it to hold out for that though, since if you go something like 3/5/6 you can guarantee using the 6 whenever you get the 5.

I was 10th prestige in cod4 too but this is taking way too long to level.

Again, this is made irrelevant by the fact that the sniper rifle is good on Estate and literally no other map (possibly Quarry, but not really).

Hardline pro gives you -1 on your deathstreak.
