I was under the impression the decision wasn't one that was made after the game finished but shortly after. I dunno. Just thought it was a good call. Sick game for sure.
and I'm sorry, but they can't blame this on convention center internet. This is the type of thing you need to test and be sure of coming in... AND you better have a solid backup plan in place should this happen to get something else piped in ASAP. SC2 can be played over an aircard (I've done it with 0 lag on bnet), for example.
And the sound leakage thing from Idra's interview is just so inexcusable. I can't believe people aren't making a bigger deal out of that. How does that happen?
I'm just thinking in my head of the Rio layout in their conference center (where the WSOP is held - at least for now). There's no way someone in the Amazon Room could hear something over the loudspeaker from the Pavilion Room if they have headphones on and the doors are closed. I couldn't even hear the ceremonies from the big room when playing in the smaller one with all the doors open right down the hall.
Shows you how much work needs to be done for the SC2 scene to take off. Blizzard not introducing LAN support was possibly a misstep if stuff like this keeps happening. Blizz needs to be out there throwing $$ at this **** and sending their own tech guys out there to make sure this doesn't happen. I'm sure MLG paid a pretty penny for a license to even host the tournament too.
