From what I've heard from reviews, the game is really short. Something like 5-6 hours. Although the online time trials and DLC should increase its replayability. I'll still get it I think.

Same here, I see no reason to buy this but it does look fun. I can see it really putting a lot of people who suffer from video game motion sickness off which also won't help them.

Can anybody tell me if you can race your friends in timetrial mode? (I don't mean using ghosts or whatever, I mean each person having a controller and the 2 of you racing side by side on the same level.) Thanks.

My understanding is that there is no multiplayer of any kind.

Ok thanks for the info, I can only hope the PC version will have this when it's released in January. It really is an unforgivable blunder to miss out a head-to-head multiplayer mode in a game that lends itself so well to having one.

I played the demo last night. Its really good, but if its only a few hours long and little or no multiplayer then its not worth $60.

i agree its not worth $60, I'm just gonna wait till after the new year when I can get it reasonably used.

This and the banjo-kazooie game came out today in the UK. I've played through the prologue and first chapter and really like it. The problem, imo, with first-person platforming is not knowing where your feet are, but I'm getting used to it. I wouldn't call this a 5-hour game, though, because there seem to be like 20 speedrun courses and most of the gameplay time would end up coming from that. It does seem fun enough so far for me to want to hone the speedruns a bit. I think that this is quite fun.

So having played through about 4 chapters so far a lot of this game looks amazing. Going from rooftops down to street level down into subways all in one level is really cool. When you build up momentum and start pulling off strings of moves then its really satisfying. can be a bit frustrating though at certain points. Especially the combat which just feels off and is generally annoying. I quite like the story though, its not great but i think i think the cutscenes are fairly well done and its interesting enough. Even when i finish the single player i reckon im gonna spend a lot more time on the time trials cos the flat out running is whats so good about the game.

Yes, I totally agree. For me the combat is like "we're interrupting you having fun for some stuff that isn't fun that you are required to do before we will let you do some more stuff that is fun." I have no idea why it's there. Surely everyone who plays this game sees that the fun thing is the running and jumping, and you could just have the cops chasing you or whatever and you could fail in some other way besides trying to avoid bullets.

Anyway, I like this game less than I did last weekend, because the combat is annoying, but the things that are good about it are really really good and I think it's probably worth putting up with the other stuff.

the design on this game is pretty refreshing with the colour schemes, makes a change after playing a million 'grey' FPS. Style counts for something. Saying that the graphics arent even that bad. The only bad thing about it is the poor movement of other runners in the game.

I agree with that. I enjoyed how the game looks and overall feels when i was playing. I wouldn't judge anything based on a commercial (which i thought was pretty cool btw).

I felt sick watching the trailers which sucks b/c the game look really cool.

i think im like halfway through the game, some of the parts are annoying where it takes me an hour to get through some spot and discover a simple solution that should have taken just 2 minutes. one example is where the janitor's door is locked and u have the find another way, I was convinced that u had to get on the overhanging poles and execute a flying kick through the glass when in reality it was a simple reroute elsewhere via swinging pole

i really like the graphics/gameplay and its a very refreshing element, however they could have improved by:

- increasing the gun physics (dunno how many rounds in the gun we have)
- improve the quality of some of the voice actors
- balancing the checkpoints better so when i die i dont go back too far and think "crap, I have to do all this AGAIN!?

also the race modes add a lot more to the game because sometimes I just wanna run through a city super fast

This game doesn't deserve the hype. It was cool but no free roaming is annoying. If had been like Assassin's Creed but 1st peron that would have been awesome.
Still fun but could have been so much better

what annoys me most is taking 20 attempts to take out 5 or 6 guys and once theyre dead going to make a difficult jump, just missing and then i have to kill all the guys again, infuriating. This happened in the Mall and in the Docks.

i'm having so much fun w/ this game.. there are so many badass moments where you run off a wall jump kick a guy, disarm him, blast 3 other dudes in the nose and then discard your weapon and double jump off a wall onto a roof.

good times are being had.

tbh i hate these types of arguments when we'd spend about the same amount on a NES game 20 years ago (tons more with inflation ldo) that can be beaten in 30 minutes, but something for another thread i guess rather than hijacking this one

wat

This game is more parkour than FPS.. depending on the linearity - it could be tight

Finally played the demo for this after spotting the art so many times, and I'm very glad I did. Regardless of length or multiplayer, this is something that feels fresh for the year. In some ways it's like a better Jet Set Radio. That's not a bad thing either. We need more unique titles.

The problem is they rarely sell well enough... so I'm buying. Anyone looking for something different while we're in sequel land should give this a try.
