IIRC, the log says something about shooting them all at the same time, which would imply the seekers. Given all the times we'd spent discovering arrays of 5 dots in the environment to use our seekers on leading up to that guy, I guess it was an "ldo" for me.

My 8 remaining health out of like 7 energy tanks did not survive.

My second time through I got him to 5% again before getting owned by the bots-flying-in-circles-rapidly-until-they-shoot-energy-at-you stage. That stage is a crime against humanity. The first time he goes into that stage he activates the rings slowly and you can take them out pretty quick, the second time he goes a bit faster and one or two of them will probably fire off and take out some health, the third time it's ****ing impossible to take any of them out because he goes so fast and if you have less than three energy tanks at that point it's probably game over because I found it entirely impossible to dodge the shots from those things, and they hurt, a lot.

After my second time, I made the above post. I then went to GameFaqs and discovered that when he makes the big disc-like shape, you're supposed to use seeker missiles to take out the 5 bots surrounding him. This made me hate the game because the scan entry makes no hints whatsoever as to the fact that seeker missiles would be useful, just that you need to shoot down the 5 bots. I unloaded hundreds of beam shots at the ****ers in my first two attempts and not one of them would die.

I got lucky and Helios only went into the kick-goofyballer's-ass-as-described-above formation once, so the third try actually went pretty easily.

Seriously?? Helios is super easy. Just keep firing. Generally at an area that appears a different color if memory serves. Frankly, I thought most of the bosses were easy. The only ones that are hard are those you have to fight early when you have limited health (Rundas was a bitch to figure out at first, but now can be done with two rips of armor).

As for Kuraak, that's a one hitter quitter if you do it right.

this works fairly well with that hatcher squid thing too. Not quite as efficient as often they will leave behind one or two.

I am not a hardcore gamer, though I did love the Marathon series on the Mac, and Jedi Knight II was much fun. My brother knows this and I guess figuring I dig Sci-Fi 3rd Person Shooters he got me Metroid Prime 3 as a Christmas gift.

I have just gotten around to playing it (an hour or so at night after family is off to bed).

This game has been a lot of fun.

Now that I have friend vouchers (bowling for bots, lol) I would like to trade them to get the Mii bobble head before finishing the game.

Can anyone help me out? I have Connect24 enabled, but I am a bit clueless after that.

Just let me know your wii number, enter mine on your list (1508 4597 7097 3884), and let me know how many vouchers you want to trade...I have 15 or 16 I think.

Sure thing...if you have me entered, I'll send them tonight. Are you sure you don't want to do more? No reason to keep friend vouchers unexchanged afaik...

Wheatsauce,

If you could use a couple more I'd be happy to send some more your way.

I'll hold onto a couple since aforementioned brother is getting the Wii and I'm sure Metroid will be one of the first things he plays.

GOD THIS GAME IS SO ****ING BROKEN

JUST DIED FOR THE THIRD TIME ON THE FINAL BOSS, EACH TIME HAVING GOTTEN TO THE LAST ****ING STAGE

SO WHY DO I KEEP DYING? BECAUSE IN THE THIRD STAGE THEY COMPLETELY ****ING STOP GIVING YOU HEALTH

OKAY SO OBVIOUSLY I COULD JUST NOT TAKE DAMAGE, EXCEPT OH YEAH YOU ****ING AUTOMATICALLY TAKE DAMAGE JUST FOR BEING ALIVE AT THIS POINT

NOT TO MENTION
- WHEN IT'S SHOOTING THE FOUR LASERS THE ONLY WAY TO GET BEHIND IT AND AVOID DAMAGE IS TO HAVE IT RIGHT ****ING ABOVE YOU WHERE IT'S COMPLETELY ****ING IMPOSSIBLE TO AIM
- IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH OR ACCURATELY YOU SHOOT THE BOMB THINGS IT DROPS YOU'LL NEVER ****ING HIT IT SO YOU CAN'T GET BEHIND IT THEN

I MEAN THIS GAME IS PRETTY FUN AND ALL BUT IT'S PRETTY ****ING RARE THAT I HAVE A VERY STRONG DESIRE TO THROW SOMETHING AT MY ****ING TV AND RESIST IT TO COME MAKE AN ANGRY POST IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS

About a quarter of the way through now, not buying any new games until I beat this, and that includes WiiWare and VC since I have put this off since I bought it the week it came out. First came Guitar Hero, then Super Mario Galaxy, then Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, and then Smash Bros. No more putting off Metroid, since it is a great game.

This is basically a bump because I am going to want to exchange some Friend Vouchers, I haven't enabled anything, and probably won't get on my Wii until tomorrow night, but I want this thread handy for when I am ready so I don't have to attempt to use the 2+2 search function again.

actually, don't even bother trying to shoot him at this point. just stay under him until he's done with that position. the best time to rack up damage are when he's spinning around on the floor, if memory serves. it's been a while.

Beat it over the weekend at 99% completion. I have no desire to try to find the few things I didn't scan to get it at 100%. If I was at maybe 95%, then yes, but 99% is close enough especially when some of the stuff I missed is probably one time only scans that can't be found again. I really had no problem with the last boss, pretty simple. I remember not being able to beat Dark Samus in Metroid Prime 2, and just gave up, but I had no problem here. Pretty fun game, but with tons of other games I want to play, and poker, probably won't replay it in a long time, if ever.

Started Zack and Wiki after I finished it, and I still want to get Okami, replay MGS: Twin Snakes for Gamecube, and get Wii Fit...things have slowed down on the Nintendo front, so I should be able to catch up on those before some huge blockbuster SNES RPGs come out on VC *prays*

**SPOILER******

The only part I got stuck on and had to use a guide was the mining laser boss thing in the Pirate Homeworld. The one where you have to get it to suck up the pirates to damage it. I couldn't figure that out in 10 tries, I kept trying to change into the ball and get sucked up there and try to bomb it with the ball bomb, cause I kept killing the pirates before the sucking would begin....

***End Spoiler***

You have to stand in the Phazon pools to charge a damaging blast ldo.

Getting 100% in these games is hard because those damn missile add ons. Pretty sure scanning is irrelevant to % I thought? I only tried to do it in MP1. Every year until last year or two years ago I tried looking for that last one. In the room where you had to shoot the 4 signs and avoid those out of the wall tentacles...it was in some side room which required seeing a body length long underwater gateway. I ran around every room in the game like 6 times with headphones trying to find it.

Sequals are always ridiculously anal about making these kind of items ridiculous to find.

***Another Spoiler about Items***

For MP3, if you go back to SkyTown, the center satellite room once you have the spider ball will give you 'maps' for all the suit upgrades, which are the missles/energy cells, which I only assume also include ships missles. They show all maps with an 'X' if you already got it, and a big white dot if you haven't got it. Made finding items very very easy, which is the only reason I finished at 99%, I probably missed about 10-12 items without those maps.

Epic bump!

Anyone get the collectors pack for Prime 1 2 and 3 on the Wii? Is the control scheme fun in the first two? I loved Prime and would love to replay through it.
