What's the point of coins, btw? I get a "high score" after every star but I don't see why it's significant.

Anyone who hasn't bought it yet, buy it & get a $25 GC at Best Buy. It's not advertised but force the customer service rep to ring up SKU # 6867688 after they ring up the game.

They are price matching the sick deal by Toys R Us unofficially.
Sweeeet. Would this require a customer service rep with some sort of competence, or should they all understand the situation? I'm bad at these things.

I saw the thread on fatwallet, they will call over a manager usually and he'll have to approve it first. Def a YMMV deal.

Well on all the older games you got a star for every 100 coins in a world, not sure if they still do that because I still don't have the game

You can do the same at circuit city, might need to talk to a manager though. If you really wanted to, you could probably get several this way and ebay the games/gift cards.

I got the last copy they had at Toys R us, unfortunatley I won't have any time to play it for atleast a week.

I'm not crazy about how the gravity works on planets, like how you're running upside down on the bottom of planets and stuff. I realize it's kinda a huge part of the game, but it's just a little disorienting and nausea-inducing sometimes. meh, I suppose if the worlds were just like Mario 64 the game would lose a ton.

I don't really get the point of those little star thingys you collect. I know you can shoot enemies with them and so far you've needed to feed them to certain things, but at one point the game recommend I save a few? how do do that?

Really fun game so far though. Some of the best graphics I've seen on the wii too imo.

This is nice and all, but only really nice if they match the Buy 2 get 1 free that starts on the, 18th I think.

Thus getting a total of 4 games for 125 plus tax.

Up to ~32 stars, still awesome, I don't really like swimming though, it's so hard to control precisely. I think I had the same problem with Mario 64 though.

Question w/ minor spoiler about hidden stars:

Ok, so for those of you who have gotten green hidden stars: If a galaxy has one and you haven't gotten it, will it still say "Galaxy completed" if you've gotten all the regular stars? I just got my first one but I got it before the other star in that galaxy, so I don't know if it would have said "galaxy completed" if I got the other one first. Basically I'm trying to figure out if I might have to worry about going back to galaxies that I've supposedly completed because I might have missed hidden stars or not.
/spoiler

Would like to see if I can get 120 stars without using GameFaqs or anything
It won't say galaxy completed until you've gotten every possible star you can in that galaxy (including all hidden and comet stars).

Ill double check tomorrow, but I don't think this is true. I believe I saw galaxy complete on galaxies before I did comet stars on them.

thanks for the heads up. i got it last night at best buy. the clerk had a piece of paper near the register with a bunch of promo skus, and this one one of them. they were already aware of the deal. they don't mention it to customers, but if it's brought up to them they put it in at the register no managers and no questions asked. she said she thinks the match will be running until saturday.

Lumas pop up in the Comet Observatory that require Star Bits to feed; when you feed them, they'll transform into small galaxies you can go to. IIRC I've unlocked three so far, which required 400/400/600 star bits to feed.

When you get a star in a galaxy, all the star bits you got in that mission are added to your total.

FYI: Your mileage definitely will vary, even within the same Best Buy store.

A coworker of mine is a gamer and told me about this deal as well; yesterday afternoon, he went to the local Best Buy and the clerk initially asked to see the Toys R Us ad. My coworker said he didn't have the ad, but that he did have the SKU# (6867688) -- and so the clerk tried entering it, and it worked. So he got his copy of SM Galaxy and got the $25 gift card with very little hassel.

I went a couple of hours after he did to the *same* Best Buy with the SKU # and Toys R Us Sunday ad printed out (which has the game + gift card promo) in hand, and the clerk at the register (I assume a different clerk than my coworker had dealt with earlier) would not enter the SKU # without her manager's permission. So she calls over the "Operations Supervisor", and that guy swears Best Buy would never honor that Toys R Us price match because there was a gift card involved and it's not a literal price match.

So whatever, I pretty much just shrugged and left without buying the game (knowing in the back of my mind that they had honored the deal for my co-worker, and I could likely just bring in his Best Buy receipt with the price match honor and prove that they really are doing the price match).

So last night, I emailed my coworker buddy and asked him to bring his receipt into work with him today, so I could bring it into Best Buy with me and show that they *really will* honor the price match.

So this afternoon during lunch, I went back to Best Buy with my coworker's receipt from yesterday to demonstrate to them that they *really are* doing the price match (at least for some customers)...but it wasn't even necessary. I just brought the game up to the counter, handed it to the clerk and started to tell her the spiel about the Toys R Us deal with a free $25 gift card and that Best Buy had been honoring the price match, and she stopped me mid-sentence and asked if I had the SKU #. So, I gave it to her and she immediately rang it up and gave me my gift card (didn't ask permission from a manager or anything like that), and out the door I went.

tl;dr summary: pretty good chance this will work, but yeah, your mileage will vary. If it doesn't, try talking to different managers or supervisors until you find one who will honor the deal, or come back later when a different clerk/manager is on duty.

They don't match this. You might as well just get it from TRU, only reason to go to BB for this deal is because BB GC >>>> TRU GC

That is [censored] priceless!!

I must buy a copy of this, if for no other reason, than to show to people and then roll around on the ground laughing.

On topic, can anyone say a word about the co-op. The IGN review mentions it in the end, but first calls it "co-op", then calls it "semi-co-op mode". What's the dealio?

I know that if you look on the map, it will either show how many stars you have in each galaxy, or there will be a crown on the galaxy. A crown means you've gotten all the possible stars.
