because there are a lot of games where you don't have T1 lacerator and as a result the first attack is for 2damage on T3

or they trade a grizzly bear for your lacerator and 2damage and kill your surrakar, etc

I mean the deck is fast and very good, but its not like he has 4nacatl and 4goyfs, it attacks for 2 a lot of the time

try drafting more removal or cards that trade?

in my deck both were excellent, they play real well in decks with scorpions.

as far as the blade, it was pretty good, getting one on a lacerator then gatekeeper with kicker their only guy on t3 generally caused problems.

First picked burst lightning then started going heavy black. I'm pretty sure splashing here would be bad especially when I already have a bunch of removal right?

oh mother of god

that deck just seems ****ing ******ed

i think you should cut croc and play null, seems like your 3 drops are lacking? I guess gatekeeper technically counts as a 3drop

Loooooooooool lost round 1 again. Mulliganed to 5 getting one land each hand and ended up losing stuck on 3, then drew 7 straight swamps the next game to start it off and never got a single spell other than my starting hand stuff. Fun game. Unbelievable I lost with the lost round 1 with the last two decks I posted.

How do you guys build this deck? I thought it was kinda tough:

Card quality is obviously great. Skipping a few black bombs sucked, but they were both double black (Marsh Casualties and the Bloodwitch). Not sure how good the black ascension is. I assume it's not great in a green/x deck, which this deck is going to be because of the fatties.

Went with allies due to Murasa Pyromancer, plus the Pumas effectively block stupid intimidate guys in black and smooth out my curve.

And finally, how many Teetering Peaks is too many, lolz? I went with two because I wanted to play the dual land for sure.

I also don't like the looter very much in this format, though not playing two Air Elementals sucks.

Meh. 1-0 in a release event so far. I think the deck is pretty good. Took me awhile to build.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I didn't play the green ascension either. It seems impossible to activate in this kind of deck. I wanted to play it just to see how I liked it, though. Probably should have.

You have a great red/black deck there, but you screwed it up by instead playing red with an unplayable color.

I think red/blue is possibly better, but the green is certainly not unplayable. Especially in sealed. Hagra Crocodile as the main beatdown? I'd rather play blue and attack with Air Elemental, not a ****ty ground guy.

The rules have changed, and it's what makes this format so different: there's practically no blocking anymore. Name the amount of things that can block a landfall'ed croc and live. Now add in the ridiculous amount of removal and TWO needlebite traps, and it's not close.

Needlebite Trap is good? I guess if you mise them with the trap, that's pretty sick. But straight up nugging them with it?

Yes, needlebite trap cast for 7 is straight up gold. Every single deck is playing 18+ land anyway, so it's not like it's hard to cast. No one is blocking! A 10 point life swing is ridiculous.

My initial thought was also to go BR, though you don't have many finishers. The amount of removal there prob would make it not matter though, you have some solid creatures that can swing as you clear the board.

Obv I attempt to run the big switches in games 2 and 3 and double and triple mulligan, respectively. THANKS FOR NOTHING 2+2

Last edited by anononon; 10-23-2009 at 08:24 PM. Reason: actually it was a quad mulligan in game 3

I like red/blue the best, peaks is nutty with tsunami, and the eel

and the sphinx is pretty damn good, I like woodcrasher a lot, but I think you need a couple survivalists to want to play green over U or B
