I gave up on children of morta too. I enjoyed it at first but it's too grindy and too repetitive imo. Are you still enjoying gungeon?

I'm alternating between undermine, gungeon, and levelhead.

I'm really enjoying undermine. It's like a Binding of Isaac with jumping.

As mentioned earlier and I was happy I wasn't the only one I find Dead Cells surprisingly overrated. I did not like it at all, abandoned just after a couple runs.

Games I played the hell out of loosely in the genre: Binding of Isaac (afaik there's a new DLC in the works btw!), Crypt of the Necrodancer, Enter The Gungeon (amazing, I went for 100%, started loving it after AD&D update), Nuclear Throne, Risk of Rain (now slowly progressing RoR 2 as well), and ofc Spelunky <3.

Rogue Legacy was fine for 27 hours, which I guess is decent. It just feels unfinished to me because I haven't done any advanced progress. I'll be probably playing RL2 too.

I actually beat it. I hated it. It's repetitive, boring, and the story is really annoying.

Anyone been playing Hades? It looks good. I loved Bastion, but Transistor didn't really grab me... not sure if it was the style or the combat but just didn't get into it.

Also deciding what to play it on, Steam or Switch...

I'm interested in this, I played through Bastion but abandoned quickly Transistor. Hades seems universally loved and I love both roguelites and hacknslash games so I'm very curious.

I have my eye on Hades too and will probably get it for Switch. The SwitchUp review made it look really good.

I have about 60 hours on Hades going back a couple months. It is polished and very well done for what it is. You'll definitely get your money's worth if you're into that style of game.

It's no Binding of Isaac in terms of variety and replayability, but few games are.

I've been just picking whichever weapon is lit up for the Darkness bonus, so I'm moving up heat levels pretty evenly, and am sitting around heat level 6 with most. Some combos are pretty dirty. My favorite weapon from a mechanical standpoint is easily the shield. The "easiest" to win with seems to be the Twin Fists in a Zeus-heavy build. The bow appears to exist primarily for people who hate fun and winning. The one exception is the bow variant that grants you the ability to use your primary attack to mark a target that your special will seek. I stacked up some crazy boons on one of those runs and killed bosses in mere seconds. Like 3000+ damage per shot.

It's remarkable that the entire game is voice acted, but I've never been the type of person to pay much attention to that sort of thing with a game like this. I spacebar spam my way through all the dialogue to get back to the winning part. At one point Hermes said, "You don't seem very talkative, would you like to skip the pleasantries for a while?" and I selected yes. For the next dozen or so runs, Hermes just gave me my boon and went away. I've never been prompted like that from another one of the gods.

If Binding of Isaac is a 10/10 Roguelike, Hades is a solid 7, maybe higher if things change as I progress toward whatever the "true" ending is.

From what I've seen Hades looks like an upgraded version of Hyper Light Drifter.
I'm kinda surprised that almost everyone on 2+2 (myself included) believes Binding of Isaac is the king of the genre.

I didn't like binding of Isaac really, but that may have been from playing on pc. Didn't like the attack mechanic, mostly.

Looks like Rocket League is going free to play

Not much has changed except the interface, it automatically links your Steam account to a pseudo-Epic Store account, the same way Path of Exiles handled it when they moved to Steam.

And they've basically added 2-3 steps to navigating your most common actions, there's no more quick play or training. I wonder if this is the Epic version of the client and that a lot of the functionality in the Steam version was using portions of Steam library code.

Also the servers have been bad for me, constantly running in to 100-150 ms pings now.

I got a $10 off Epic game coupon for clicking 'get' on the free Rocket League game in the Epic store. I have the steam version, so I didn't download it.

They also ****ed up the Switch version and now splitscreen doesn’t work.
