I'm gonna strongly disagree with this.

While you are correct that it's far from necessary to play W2 to enjoy W3, the fact still remains that Witcher 2 is a ****ing good game, and advising anyone to skip it is terrible advice.

You should be ashamed.

it is not LIKE You Don't Know Jack, it IS YDKJ plus a few other great party games updated so that people can use their cell phones as controllers.

I know a lot of people turn their nose up at the concept of using phones as controllers but in practice I think it works really well for party games. Sony did a great job with some of the PlayLink games.

I've been looking forward to Jackbox. Back in the day, when games were on CDs (BEFORE DVDs!), You Don't Know Jack was one of the few video games (though it's not *really* a video game) my wife would play with me.

My brother introduced me to the mobile party game called Psych. Really fun and easy to setup (it's also free, though there is DLC that can be purchased). The gist of the game is a statement/question is presented and you have to give a fake answer. All of the players' answers plus the actual correct answer are listed and everyone has to choose which one they think is correct. You get points if you pick the right one or someone picks yours. It is possible to actually know the right answer, but it is very unlikely, hence the answers being "fake."

One cool thing is it doesn't involve a PC or TV screen, so you can play with people remotely. My family played in a game with my brother's girlfriend's family across the country. Obviously, it's more fun if everyone is together for the laughs, but it's not necessary.

Also, you can upload a profile pic and a "psych" face. The psych face appears (with a buzzer) on a player's phone if they pick your answer. It's actually pretty jarring, especially if you upload a goofy face. I used a pic of myself from The Walking Dead, which really freaked out the people who didn't know me.

EDIT: My kids and I also played a party game called Use Your Words at a gaming/comic convention. Really fun. It's the kind of game where you have to gather around a computer screen and use your phones as controllers.

Use your words is great. It was designed by noted music comedian Brentalfloss.

Also Psych sounds exactly like Balderdash, one of my fsvorite board games growing up.

It also sounds exactly like Fibbage which is part of the Jackbox Party Pack.

My wife could not care less about video games and she loves the Jackbox games, though they are really party games and generally not for 2 players.

Yeah, from the looks of it, they are very similar. Seems like the big difference is that Psych is 100% on phone/tablet and the players don't have to be in the same room together. And it's free.

But they are definitely quite similar. I would suspect Fibbage is great, knowing who made it.

Oh yeah! He was at the booth showing off the game. We actually saw him/the game at two different conventions - my kids love it. Brent was really nice to them and seemed to get a kick out of my youngest (who was 8 and 9 at the two events) coming up with some creative answers in the game.

Fibbage is a lot of fun, though I imagine the format matters? My sister and her husband have it on their Apple TV, and then we pull out our phones and connect to their web server to play. Not sure how it would work on a computer, but probably less of a party game that way.

I obviously don't look usually just at the % of positive reviews but usually read a few top rated positive ones and negative ones as well, but here it seems that the game is a bloody mess and looks like a mobile game at first glance. I understand giving games with bad reviews a chance where they were review bombed or maybe not liked by many due to game's nature (like The Witness).

Not trying to criticize, just genuinely curious, maybe I'm missing out or I could miss out on a game that I'd otherwise potentially enjoy in the future just because I tend to assess games the way I do.
I'm not thethethe, but for me it's the setting and the fact that it's based off of a book. I like to play some games I view as an interactive read, even if the gameplay isn't great.

Has anyone played the Total War Warhammer with the entire world? I'd like to give it a shot but don't want to find out that it fries my gpu.

Yeah, it is fun especially with the WH1 races since this is the only way to play them with WH2 mechanics. The game runs smoothly (same as WH2), but the turn timers are long since there are so many factions.

Heads-up that I didn't realize: the latest free games on Humble Bundle actually have expiration dates, even if you claimed them. You still have to redeem the Steam code to keep them. With past free games, I just claimed them and have them sitting in my account, IIRC. Thus, I missed out on Lego Hobbit and Uncle-whatever-the-game-was-called. They are on my "purchases" list, but the Steam key expired. That Deponia game expires 1/31.

Yep, that's been a thing for awhile. Claim them ASAP on your steam account.

Witcher 3 was amazing, just finished my 1st playthrough of the main game and both DLCs last week. Gave me like 120 hours of really fun gameplay, the DLCs are just as good as the main game and add a ton of content, would love to see a new Witcher game with the same mechanics as 3. Witcher 2 was a lot of fun as well and I played through that twice (wanted to see the Roche and Iorveth stories) before starting 3

Ugh. I'll have to try Witcher 3 again. I just hated the combat and the controls felt so imprecise.

I think this explains it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comme...le_of_updates/

(cliffs: shared redistributable update, like DirectX, etc)

Hopefully this means that they'll stop wasting tons of space with duplicate redistributables installers.
