I'm giving Rimworld a try. I see it recommended everywhere.

I'm 2 hours in so far. Played the tutorial twice just to get a feel for it and now I'm working on my first colony.

I can't say I'm in love with it yet as I'm trying to figure out how everything works. I'm having a little trouble getting things to run smoothly and it always feels like I'm playing behind the curve. I tend to lose track of what is going on and can't really get things to work like I want them to.

I want them to build walls, but they are out harvesting. I want them to chop wood, but they are working on tile floors. I want them to kill a wolf after it sneaks through a hole in a wall that they failed to finish, but then they all huddle up next to it and get clawed. Can you pick up dead animals and move them or use them for food? Seems like there is no option to do that.

I've watched a lot of youtube videos up to today so I thought I had a good grasp on things, but I guess not!

Have you set manual work priorities? Set what you want them to do to Priority 1 and they should start doing what you want (sometimes.)

Wrt to the carcasses, check your stockpile areas. I believe carcasses are disallowed by default. Change it to allow non-human corpses.

Slay the Spire just added steam workshop support. Sure there will tons of new relics, cards and even whole new playable classes available soon.

Yes, I was setting priorities, but some had orders that others didn't so things didn't get done. Being new to the game, I was having a hard time managing 3 different people. I had been watching quite a few youtube videos so I was picking up on a lot and had a good idea, but it's still new to me going into it having to make the decisions for myself.

I have been watching a youtube playthrough where a guy plays naked solo and gets his guy to survive. I was picking up a lot of good ideas.

It gave me the idea to start in the mountains and try to survive on my own. I figured it would be easier to manage one guy rather than 3.

I was doing okay, was low on food, but I was getting by. I had been trying to figure out how to create a weapon, but I couldn't find the item that would unlock the ability to do it. About 45 minutes in, a Pirate comes. I still don't have a weapon. Just as I figure out how to make a club, he walks up to my base and starts pounding on a back wall. Club finishes, I equip it.

I run out and fight him. He knocks me out, kidnaps me, sets my structure on fire, and walks off the map with me. I sit there watching my entire small structure go up into flames.

Game over. I still have a lot to learn.

Gave rimworld a shot for an hour, realized theres way too many options and things to learn then got a refund.

Seems like a great game, but way too overwhelming.

You can force them to do tasks out of their priority-order by selecting them and right clicking the task you want them to do and selecting the option to do it.

Once you have a stockpile and allow animal carcasses in it, they'll pick up dead animals and move them there (if the priorities is set right for them to do that). Also, if stuff has a red cross on them they're forbidden from picking up, so you have to select them and 'unforbid' them before they'll pick it up.

I typically try to get some solar power going and build a freezer (using the air conditions set to freeze) for storing food asap. Freezer makes sure stuff doesn't spoil at all. To eat animals you need to set up a butchers table, so it's good to have a freezer until that happens.

I typically start off making a few big-ish farm areas for early food supply once the brought rations are used up.

There's no need to learn everything at once - take it bit by bit and focus on the next logical step in building base and making life better.

Homeworld remastered Collection is just $5.25 on fanatical right now. Game looks beautiful and has been on my steam wishlist forever, but don't anticipate having time to play it for a long time, but then again what is 1 more game to add to my backlog?

That will look like a joke, but maybe people who played Huniepop will understand me. Has anyone played it? Is it any good? Is it something more than Huniepop? Don't care for anime titties, I guess they're fine with a proper gameplay.

I was browsing steam250 and found it with stellar reviews released in 2018.

I love Hunie Pop, but didn't really like Mirror much. The match 3 stuff is not as good and where Hunie Pop was cute with great voice acting and at least something like a coherent story line, this is just some random episodes with confusing, pointless "stories" that usually end with bondage and tentacle rape once you've beaten the girls.

You also unlock modes with each girl which is just having them tied up and fondling them which seemed... well... I'm not judging people who might enjoy that, but... well, I'm judging a bit.

Yeah that doesnt sound pleasant. At least with Hunni Pop nothing seemed non-consensual. And the match 3 is probably the best i've played since the old Bejeweled days.

Fanatical has Leisure Suit Larry 1-7 for $1.99 combined. Giggity.

EDIT: Technically it's not really 1-7, as there was no 4. It's 7 games, regardless.

Really enjoying OOTP's Perfect Team mode. It's similar to Ultimate Team/Diamond Dynasty modes, but all games are simmed. You can set game strategies like whether you favor lefty/righty matchups, aggressive vs passive baserunning, How quickly you pull your starting pitcher. These strategies can be set for either an entire game or situationally such as leaving starters in longer if you're up 5 runs or more. You can even set individual player strategies such as never pinch hit or defensive sub for Bryce Harper

You earn points for individual or team accomplishments which can then be used to either buy card packs or bid on individual players up for auction. The player pool includes both current and historical players such as Babe Ruth or Ted Williams.

Full 162 game seasons are played out over the course of 1 week Monday through Saturday and the playoffs are on Sunday.

As with any game mode like this, people can buy their way to the top. However, it's not as bad in this mode since teams are placed in leagues based on their past seasons performance with teams being promoted or relegated after each season. There are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Perfect level leagues.

Once you start playing you are placed into an entry pool against other new teams until the following Monday when you are placed into a league based on your performance there.

I like that it's a very relaxed version of an UT mode where I can check in on my team a few times a day, make some adjustments, and check back in a little later in the day to see if they worked out or not.

Finished my 1st full season last week. Went .500 for the 1st 2 months of the season until I started paying attention defensive ratings of my players and went on 20-4 run, but unfortunately once August hit, my lack reliable back up players capable of giving my everyday players a rest came back to bite me and my team stumbled to an 80-82 finish 1 game out of the wild card.

I just bought Icewind Dale and Planescape from Fanatical for -88% but it seems that they're almost out of stock so if you're fast:

Just a heads up. Slay the Spire will see a price increase when it comes out of early development late January. I think it's January 23rd to be exact.

Icewind Dale really isn't very good, especially by today's standards. I guess it is fine if you enjoy tactical combat, but the story is weak and since you create the whole party from the scratch there are 0 interaction and quests between the party members.

Torment is still great even though the UI is utterly horrible.

Yeah the store and the platform sucks but I already got 20 hours of great fun from Subnautica, so I appreciate the giveaways.

I bought it mostly for nostalgia. Never played IWD, just BG 1 and 2, but couldn't beat both back in the days because I was bad at games at the age of 10-12-ish. I did beat Planescape Torment though. Not sure if I'm going to replay it as it's not as replayable as BG is (I think?) but it's just nice to have.

Nice shout on the Edith Finch. I don't expect everyone here to love it the way I did, but that was definitely one of my fav gaming/media experiences of the last few years.

I don't know Gone Home. Some would call it a "walking simulator" where you explore a weird house but each story is told through (very?) minimal "gameplay", but each is unique enough where some are at worst semi-interesting and at best, well, there are a few moments in the game where it's like "woah that was really cool".

Yeah. That's all I'm gonna give on gameplay because there really isn't too much, but there are a few moments that I found to be really amazing.

As for the story, I thought it was interesting all the way through, but again, I'm into this kinda stuff. It's not very long. Couple of hours. Probably not worth the price tag for many people, but as a free product, I wholly endorse it to anyone with some time and who likes video games and storytelling.
