I don't enjoy horror movies but will play some scary games, like Dead Space. I've been too scared to play Outlast, though.

I am interested in Witcher 3 but played other games like oblivion and skyrim and got bored with them, is Witcher more of the same or would i possibly like it more?

It's an open world RPG in a fantasy setting, so some stuff is similar, but most is done much better. The actual world, graphics, quests/story and combat are all much better than any recent bethesda game

Sell me on this. A lot of things I'm reading say it's super repetitive and gets boring after a few good runs.

Yeah both are open world but the side quests and stuff to do in Witcher 3 is much better then Oblivion or Skyrim. The quests in Witcher 3, even the side quests, are fantastic.

Another difference is in a Bethesda game you are basically playing anyone you want so interactions are pretty generic whereas in the Witcher you are playing a specific character so the interactions are generally richer.

I've never played elder scrolls and havent started witcher 3 yet but ive been playing witcher 2. Witcher 2 feels like im playing a long game of thrones episode. I'm really enjoying the cut scenes which are constantly happening the storyline is great i also get to make choices as it goes that impact the game. I imagine witcher 3 is the same thing with better story, graphics, and gameplay.

I read that the witcher is a book so i guess thats why the story is so good.

The games are sequels to the books so they draw stuff from them but are not based on them.

I went ahead and checked most helpful reviews of all time and all I see from negative comments are complaints about lack of content. However, these reviews are over a year old and since then the game has changed a lot. There's simply no other game even remotely alike. Both the artstyle and gameplay are very unique to this title, which is great. It's also quite full of humour making the experience more relaxing than frustrating (although it depends on the person).

You choose a team of 3 out of 20 guys. These 20 guys are split into 4 classes. They're also split into 'preferred' approach (one of 3, sometimes it's a mix, aggressive devious and friendly). Each of the 'approaches' combinations set a mood (so 6 total) of the fight and give buffs/debuffs, both personal from skills for the affect targets and for the whole battle. Each of the guys have 3-5 skills to use, inventory for 3-4 items, they're usually leveled up 4 times (each time basically choosing one of two options for a talent) which provide very various benefits. Skills are varied a lot, so are items. Mood system and random opponents and battleground make each fight unique, although they may seem sometimes similar if you're overpowered (which happens). You have to survive 5 expeditions, each time you get a choice of 2-3 for each expedition done (you can go back and choose easier earlier one though). For the last stage there's only huge expedition and DLC adds another one. The later the expedition the more complicated/harder it gets. The map for each expedition is random. You choose expedition based on which resource you want to get, which of the 4 challenge types you want to encounter and which mood should make the encounters on a given expedition easy, these correspond with 10 secondary perks which you get up to 6 levels of. The bosses at the end of each expedition are very different. Classes have also preferred way of gaining renown (basically assessment of how well you do). Scientists should probably aim for getting research tokens as a main source of renown, fighters and scouts should focus on gold and speakers will most likely choose status. Gold is spent on items for the heroes, status is spent for helpers and specialists which provide various benefits like extra gains from each token type (which there are 7 types of, 3 corresponding basically directly to gold, status and research, encounter that you get mostly from fights and three special ones also corresponding to gold, status and research. Finally research you use mostly one 'technology' trees, there 6 of them and each one of them has 5 skills. You get a bonus for unlocking and completing a technology tree as well. Probably biggest source of renown are unique artifacts which getting all of the 100+ or so is also for many a goal by itself. They're also quite unique, especially highest 'class' ones (they're divided into A, B and C brackets). Between expeditions there's quite a bit of activity with unlocking places to spend your 'currency' and insight. Oh, and the game uses resolve system, if you lose all of your resolve or all of the characters in one fight, you lose the game. I think it's a pretty neat system as well. How much of a given expedition you can explore depend on number of supplies you have.

DLC adds two new expeditions (5 star and 3 star ones) which I like quite a lot. I think the 5 star one is even harder than the classic one. It also gives you additional random bonuses for each artifact you acquire (one of 3-4 options). There's also campfire mechanic which seems not that big of a deal at first except that it's just a source of more renown but each playthrough you get a booster pack which contains cards and are added to the pool of possible campfire options, giving additional sense of progression. I think it's well worth discounted 5€, but don't worry about it for now.

I think I uninstalled it after first victory (or maybe second) thinking I'm done with the game, but I soon realised that I missed it. So I went back to it and I'm having a blast playing with randomised captain trying to score a victory for each of the 20 characters, getting achievements and trying to get to places which I still haven't managed to complete in my 40 hours of playtime. Maybe minor complaint would be that first 2 expeditions are now way too easy for me, but I treat them simply as a warmup and a way to set up the run. Each run takes about 1,5 hours once you're experienced.

There are some people complaining about RNG, but it's the same with FTL. You see complaints about FTL as well, however if you dig hard into it you see that there's much more skill involved in FTL than most people realise. It's basically an RNG that you can influence, similar maybe to also XCOM. This is a much easier game I think than FTL but losing is also a part of the experience.

Plus the game has an average of 11 hours played for all users according to steam spy, from what I know it's a high number and also shows a bit if people who own the game stick with it or not.

I'm sick and polish, thus sorry for the grammar, too much to write and the brain is not up to its capacity today. I probably missed some aspects of the game.

Anyone else playing Battlerite? Highly recommended.

It's basically a MOBA with all of the boring MOBA bull**** removed.

I still don't like Origin, but some of the giveaways are pretty cool. I bought a $10 physical copy of Mass Effect 3 a couple years ago and was forced to install Origin. My Origin library now has all of the following for free:

Battlefield 3
Bejeweled 3
Red Alert 2 + DLC
Command And Conquer Generals + DLC
Crusader - No Remorse
Dead Space
Dead Space 2
Dragon Age
Dragon Age 2
Dungeon Keeper
Jade Empire
Mass Effect 2
Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Medal of Honor Pacific Assault
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Nox
Peggle
Plants vs. Zombies
Sim City 2000
Syndicate
The Sims 2
Ultima VII
Wing Commander 3
Wing Commander 4
Zuma's Revenge

Some of those suck, but I put 50 hours in Plants vs. Zombies alone

You are dedicated, young Jedi, but I will have my revenge on those puzzles where you surpassed my block usage...

(I did recently finish the main Shenzhen I/O campaign, which I think is the first Zachtronics thing I've actually completed!)

Which puzzle, out of curiosity? There's one in particular where I did an almost absurd amount of cycle optimization but wound up with a solution I think might be unbeatable.

I would totally jump on that if I wasn't already 1) saturated with Steam games and 2) sinking all my gaming time into Rocket League and Renowned Explorers.

The problem is, I had HB subbed for 3 months, finally could skip December one and they give such a gem. This is really annoying. I feel like I have to get it even though I'm not sure if I'm able to play it in 2017. **** this.
