Still should be a good move, but lapsed accounts prob are going to want to resub.
I don't think it will do anything for lapsed accounts. I haven't played for 16 months and my interest in starting a free account is zero. I am optimistic about it though. EVE has a bit of a steep learning curve I think it is a good move.

My wife has gotten interested in coding and game development, very early stages. Would this be a good gift for her? Is it accessible to a beginner?

From the random thread but cliffs is yes it's very accessible for a beginner if all they want to do is 2D. -

There's been some pretty great games made with GM. Hotline Miami, Hyper Light Drifter and Risk of Rain off the top of my head.

Very accessible and there are a lot of resources for GameMaker now.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Does this couple at all with RPG Maker? I bought that bundle a while back and never really touched it.

No they're completely different. RPG Maker is unsurprisingly only "good" for RPGs and pretty basic ones at that. If she's a complete beginner then most people like to start with making something like a snake or space invaders clone and then move onto simple platforming. From there you can start exploring. There's a lot gamemaker tutorials and templates out there.

Don't remember seeing it posted in here but thought I'd mention that Rayman origins is free through Uplay and next week The Crew will be their monthly free game

Just finished Hyper Light Drifter. It's an action style RPG that's pretty dope. The slashing is pretty pleasing as well.

Check out Hyper Light Drifter...or if you have an extra 4 or 5 hundred hours to kill, Binding of Isaac.

Principal? never heard of it.

edit: Talos Principle on the other hand is a must buy, it's a 20 hours with dlc of pure fun (unless you're slow then you need more time)

Picked up Empyrion - Galactic Survival last Friday and still playing it, so yes, it's really good and living up to the hype imo.

There's certainly still room for improvement (it's early access and all) but it's stable, pretty bug-free and there's a ton of stuff in there already so anyone who enjoys craft'n'survive-games should be very happy with it for the price already.

Graphically it's not going to blow anyone away, but it's pretty enough and still manages to supply plenty of wow-moments that make you stop and just stand still enjoying the view for a while.

Anyone play "The Turing Test"?

It's a puzzle game similar to Portal or Talos Principle. Reviews are pretty positive with the biggest negative being it's a little short.

$20 for the base game.
