OK so there are ~12,000 viewers on twitch right now. First stream I clicked on was a chick playing and she held her baby and talked to her in-game husband?, then picked up some stuff out of the garden outside. I switched to another stream and there is this guy with his hoodie up and he is controlling this dude with an axe and a mask running around a cave hacking at things...

I have a couple of friends that are raving about that game.

They've been trying to get me to play but it's not my type of game.

I read the first review out loud to my wife and she immediately said "Buy it"

I logged into Stardew when I woke up yesterday just to do a few things before moving on to playing something else and ended up playing for more than 12 hours without even feeling it.

Now I wish someone would do the same thing the developer did with the Harvest Moon series with Final Fantasy Tactics.

This game is essentially a dream come true...the past decade or so the Harvest Moon games have been really mailed-in and shallow. And one dude comes along and puts basically everything that I could have asked for and then some into a basically perfect rendition of the genre.

A+, would buy again, will spend a really stupid shameful number of hours playing this game.

And I'm not even to the end of spring yet

Yea, Stardew is scarily easy to just get lost in - such a ton of things to do.

Amazing that one guy alone can make something like that - he deserves all the millions that are rolling in now.

I'll just wait till it stops being FOTM.

Stardew seems different enough from Harvest Moon due to the dungeons. How does it compare to Rune Factory Frontier?

Honestly, I'd say it's much closer to Total War than either of those.

I look at Star Dew valley and cant work out what the appeal is. Grow some cucumbers... eh?

As far I am concerened harvest moon just got uploaded to the matrix and did not exist before today.

As far as the growing cucumbers, that's what you do in stardew is it not? Grow stuff?

Im not saying there is no appeal, just that by look at screen caps etc I really dont get it AT ALL.

So someone break it down for me.

btw, I'm loving Thief!!! It's old, but the gameplay is amazing. The graphics are just fine imo.

It's farming simulator as well as an RPG.

I see the appeal. You farm, mine, fight, and find wild resources. You can also cook and craft recipes, explore unlocked areas, and customize skill sets from a variety of professions.

There's more to this game than just growing stuff.

Pretty steamed right now. Had saved up the 99 slimes I needed and was literally en route to the community center to put them in the bundle. Right then IRL I got a call from the delivery guy saying he was outside with the pizza...thought I hit pause... but NOPE GUESS NOT

Time continued to just run in the game (less than 5 mins real time) until I passed out somewhere in the middle of the night. When I 'woke up' Linus was telling me that he rescued me or whatever and that someone had rummaged through my pockets while I was unconscious. And the 99 slimes were GONE. Just to seal the deal, the game had auto-saved at that point so I couldn't backtrack.
