Interesting thread you picked. The majority of that thread was from OOT before it was moved over to this one. The first ~4 pages are OOT going 360 obv based on the games. The remainder is from this forum where the PS3 fans came crawling outta the framework. Not that that means a whole lot, but I just found it a kind of ironic thread to make your point with. I was thinking about picking up a 360 from stars, then I looked at the point:dollar conversion rates.

360 elite from Newegg = $450
FPPS = 41000
Dollars per 1000 fpp = 10.98

$650 cash bonus = worth $650 (duh)
FPP = 50000
Dollars per 1000 fpp = 13

Approximate money lost assuming bonus cash conversion rate = 533(13*41000/1000) - 450 = 83 dollars.

Basically you're paying 533 dollars for a 450 dollar product.

It's not a huge deal obviously, only 83 bucks, but to think that I get a better deal using my points for straight up CASH instead of a product, well it just goes against my principles. I'm planning on doing the bonus, cashing it out to buy a 360, then spending the extra 83 dollars at a titty bar.

You might want to wait a week before picking up a 360. There will be a $50 price drop putting the premium at $300. That means there will almost certainly be a price drop for the Elite as well, since the $150 difference would be more than enough to just buy the premium and an extra 120GB drive.

That price drop is nothing more than unsubstantiated rumor at this stage. It might be true, it might be bull****.

Yeah I mentioned that in the thread about it. But if it is bs, it's a pretty elaborate hoax for no real reason. The original source was photographs of some leaked k-mart advertisements. It also seems like pretty reasonable timing immediately after Sony has fired their biggest bullets for the PS3.

Especially more than a year ago, that was 360 and not even remotely close if you were even remotely taking into account what the OP said. In spite of that, you still saw a healthy chunk of PS3 recommendations and/or random 360 bashing.

lol Dire, you're the one who told me that my memory was lacking. I've spent at least a half an hour searching the archives, and there's nothing in there that supports your argument that there wasn't an overwhelming majority of xbox supporters back then. Why don't you point me to a thread then, since none of my examples satisfy your criteria apparently.

Thankfully with all the 360 bashing (which I believe is the system of choice for the majority of the forum) Dire can swoop in with all his facts for why PS3 droolz and 360 roolz.

It may just be a rumor, but 360 is going to drop price in the near future, that is pretty much a given. The only real question is when. It is by no means "bad advice" to wait a bit for the coming 360 price drop.

This doesn't really say much though, it isn't like the PS3 isn't going to drop almost immediately after 360 does.

OT: Does anyone know what kind of dvd drive does the xbox 360 elite from pokerstars have? (Samsung ?)

My situation is:

I'm looking into buying either a PS3 (only $300 now) or a Wii.
I like the sports games and movie watching that the PS3 has to offer, but I really like the "fun" games w/ the Wii like bowling, tennis, boxing, etc. I heard that PS3 had a new controller that makes gameplay similar to the Wii- is this true? Are there games now that are as fun as the Wii games? I'm hoping so, because I'd rather get the PS3.

Also, has anyone played Karaoke Revolution w/ either console...I definitely want as many party drinking games as possible and Karaoke seems fun in addition to Guitar Hero and those types of games. I don't really play the shoot em up games, warcraft, and all that stuff. I like sports games and social games more. What should I do????

wii games get old fast imo...and the good ones are few and far between. i don't even touch my wii.

get the PS3 imo. I prefer xbox, but if all you care about are playing some sports games and watching movies then it isn't even close.

I agree with Whyzze, I enjoyed the Wii for about a week and then immediately went back to my 360 and PS3. It has been sitting in the corner of my room for awhile now, been thinking of selling it but keep thinking something will come a long to make me need it. If your not considering a 360, go with the PS3. There are many great games out for it, plays blueray movies, and you can get all the social and sports games you want. I am more of a hardcore gamer though so my opinion could be useless to you.

the motion controller for the PS3 (and xbox ftm) is a future release, not currently out. Personally, I think a wii would get about 10 hours of total game play in my possession, but it doesn't sound like you are serious into gaming and are looking more for a party system, the wii might be the answer for you (keep in mind you are goign to end up paying around $400 for the wii to get all the controllers and everything to make it a 'party' system).

You can pry my PS3 from my cold, dead hands, but it might just not be for you. And it's a stretch for me to ever 'recommend' the Wii, for the most part I think it's garbage.

xbox, because halo is the only game you can play a ton and not get burned out super fast
