Looks like hydra could easily be the pre-form of the unit, so you might just get what you want anyway.
Of course toss unit last tho. One time either (1) decent gateway unit that is fast for harassment or (2) reaver or (3) scout.

Yeah, morphing from the hydra sounds like a good idea.
Maybe the unit will be some type of siege unit.
That can burrow.

a hydra that gets 11 range and a damage upgrade if it burrows or something... perhaps some sort of hardened shield too. would be nice.

looks to me like a phoenix/corsair hybrid so i would assume they're gonna take the phoenix out of the game and replace it with this thing. i don't mind if they're better than phoenixes vs air i just want them to be weaker vs hydras which are supposed to counter air units.
also does anyone know how they're going to transition from WOL to HOTS in terms of multiplayer? is there going to be a beta or a PTR to test the balance of the new units? can you keep playing WOL multiplayer or do you have to buy HOTS and play with the new units?

there will be a beta and i think there will be separate ladders. of course all the tournaments and such will move to the expansion.
they actually specifically said that only players with accounts in 1v1 masters league will be invited to the multiplayer beta to start out (and perhaps for the whole beta)

Maybe they said that all players from masters league will automatically be invited, and others will be choosen in a different way?
Would be pretty stupid to invite only top players cause you won't find lower level imba issues. Don't think Blizzard is dumb enough to make that move?
