Allegedly, the designers never thought anyone would get past 2500, so they didn't bother putting those notices up there. I doubt that's the real reason, though. (I would assume adding those graphics for 2600 and up would be relatively easy.)

Well I played notontilt again. Didn't win a song this time either thanks to awful, awful choke jobs on Even Flow and Rock and Roll all Nite. But at least I was competitive on a few songs

Don't think this has been mentioned yet: The GH: Aerosmith demo is playable at Toys R Us stores. Don't think the demo will be available for purchase or download, though. They have 2 non-Aerosmith songs and 3 Aerosmith songs (Dream On, Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion). Graphics look fine, not that you'll be paying much attention to it. The timing window is allegedly tighter, and I did miss a note when I tried to squeeze Dream On (which, I think, has the same note chart as the DLC), but that could have been caused by the lag.

yah, definitely was a close match... RARAN was won on the last note.

Gusmahler, is GH:A a completely different build or is it still on the GH3 engine like GH80's was to GH2

It's supposed to be based on the GH3 engine, with some timing window tweaks. The only brand new things are the graphics, which feature the real Aerosmith band members. The non-Aerosmith songs have the same graphics. Well, I didn't notice the bassist, but the drummer and the blonde female singer are the same ones in GH3.

Oh, I should add that it's not just Aerosmith members, Run-DMC also appears in their songs with Aerosmith.

It's amazing how not having HS3 on for PFO helps...

amateur.

(notontilt FCd RARAN when we played. You're either pretty good at the song too or he choked)

both, but more choke on his part. It was a pretty bad run for me as well. We were both in the low 190k range

DLC News:

* New Coldplay DLC

* For those of you who rely on Debr's paths, you probably noticed that he hasn't put up any new paths since Dropkick Murphys. He seems to have retired (at least for now). Luckily, Debr had given his code to someone else (TMA) in the past. TMA has uploaded paths for all the DLC, including the Coldplay songs. Go to http://gh3charts.moto-coda.org/.

I haven't downloaded anything since Dropkick Murphys, so maybe I'll do so now.

Why can't we get an Iron Maiden or Megadeth pack?

Megadeth is probably a no go since Metallica is involved with Guitar Hero now. But I have no clue why they don't release a Iron Maiden/Dragonforce or any pack where every song is challenging.

I would probably kill myself if they released a Dragonforce pack. Can you imagine Xbox Live?

But why can't we get Fear of the Dark, Wasted Years, (or Hallowed Be Thy Name) and maybe a new song (like The Wicker Man or The Mercenary) or something?

And having Metallica over Megadeth makes me a little sad too. I love them both, but I'd much rather have Megadeth. Plus, Mustaine >> Hammett anyways. I think I remember hearing that when Hammett replaced Mustaine, the other members told him to just play Mustaine's solos, and not do anything too special (or something to that extent).

Kinda makes me tilt.

It's been 25 years. You'd think they'd be over this little grudge by now.

Well there hasn't been anything said officially this...but...

There was Medadeth in GH1 and GH2 and not Metallica
There was Metallica in GH3 and Rock Band and not Megadeth

So...seems like the grudge is still on to me

well i just streamed an "advance copy" of guitar hero aerosmith for the last 5 hours, didn't think to put a link here.

the ho/po's are definitely tighter, but not all the way back to gh2 standard. in the spectrum between gh2 and gh3, it would be about a gh2.7

almost 5* sightread the setlist (sightread fc of she sells sanctuary). didn't even come close to failing at any point, never had to use sp to save myself. toys in the attic has a repeating transition that i couldn't get down so i kept breaking combo over and over, and train kept a rollin (the final encore) is a decent challenge. i think i got 2.3x on that, with no hyperspeed (don't know the code yet) and not accustomed to the timing window. joe perry guitar battle is easier than any of the gh3 guitar battle songs. in the actual battle, i beat him in about 20 seconds. when playing the song itself (you buy it in the shop), i just barely crossed the 4* cutoff. i have 5* on slash battle and morello battle, but that's with gh3 ho/po's (perry battle is kind of like slash battle with all the ho/po's)

this game will definitely be fc'd not long after the release (41 total songs - 30 setlist, 11 bonus). nothing approaching dwdtg, ttfaf, or fast solo a in terms of outrageousness, and no complete bull**** like the ballroom blitz solo from gh80s.

all of the bonus songs are either aerosmith or joe perry, and as far as i can tell all of the aerosmith songs you play in career have the same fretboard, and it sucks because it's bright and over-decorated. not to the extent of lou's fretboard, but still lame.

of course, i couldn't save any of my progress because i didn't want achievements on my gamertag with a date before the actual release. i don't know how dangerous that would be as far as getting xbl banned, but no big deal to me.

So, would you purchase GHA, or maybe just do a quick rental and beat everything? Are there very many fun songs that have good replay value? I mean, the two Aerosmith songs I've played on GH2 and GH3 have been some of the least enjoyable on the main setlist, so is this just more of the same?

i didn't think any of the songs were actually annoying to play (which i think "same old song and dance" is), so that was a relief. i don't hate aerosmith or anything, i like a few of their radio songs, but i would classify this as a definite rent-first unless you're a real aerosmith and gh fan. there just isn't much of a challenge to be found for a lot of replay value otherwise, and once i was done with the stream i really didn't have any compulsion like 'wow i want to go back and play this this and this because those songs/charts were really fun'.

and just as a side note, there is absolutely zero alt-strumming required in the entire game.

got the gha hyperspeed code, played it again. 5* the setlist, adding like 80k to my train kept a rollin score, then about 70k to the perry boss battle score for 5* on that. both still plenty challenging at parts.
