I enjoy playing the GHWT kit.
When I first played Rock Band 2 with the GHWT peripherals, I really enjoyed playing RB2. However I came to realize I enjoyed the songs that RB2 offered more than the game play.

GHWT gameplay imho is much better than RB2.
I cannot wait for GHMetallica to arrive.
I already pre-ordered mine from GameStop. I got a free bass kick pedal for the drum kit for pre-ordering.

I think I'm still going RB2:SE + GHWT guitar + GH:M. Almost all of my friends and family only own and play RB, and I'm not interested in a cymbal-crazy contraption with limited space in a condo. Maybe I'd be more curious if I weren't scared off by issue threads and stuff like this from RedOctane:

If you are experiencing a drum sensitivity issue and require a Midi Tuning Kit Click Here.

I personally expect to enjoy GH:M and the GHWT guitar the most, but RB2 is more social for me.

I think I'd want GHWT as a more potentially technical outlet if GH:M weren't looming. Thanks for the input!

Oh 'yea...I forgot about that.
The drums for GHWT did not work correctly out of the box. I needed to get the Midi Tuning kit...good point.

My wife prefers RB2, so I have both games, GHWT and RB2.
RB2 has the better content, however imho GHWT has better game play. Either way, you will have a blast.

Except that the Midi Tuner should be standard issue with all kits. It improves functionality because it allows you to calibrate your drums to your preference. Even if my drum kit worked well enough out of the box I'd want the usb-midi cable to be able to fine tune the kit.

This.

A lot of the songs in GH:WT are so goddamn boring.

As for it belonging to the young, I'd have to agree. Before Phenom, the best players in the game have all been in the mid-teens (Hellashes, Lo7, k3v227, Iamchris4life).

Says that dude broke 80 guitars, though? WTF?
They're easy to break. I've destroyed about 5 of them myself. 2 of them have B and O buttons that no longer work correctly (I guess I could play easy, maybe I tap too hard or something). One has a strum bar that can't upstrum, and 2 more activate randomly all the time.

I actually had to learn to get through FSA in One without SP because I could never rely on not having it activate during darkness riff.

They're pretty flaky. I have 2 of the new ones from WT and they seem to be better constructed than the GH3 LPs. The only issue I have is that I can't tap anything in the actual GH:WT game because that stupid slider bar detects a press if my hand is within a few inches of it (it is when I bring it up to tap the frets).

GH3 is still my favorite game of them all, mainly because I'm addicted to getting better at TTFAF. It just looks so ridiculous that it's fun to be able to say "I can do that one."

Damn I need to have another break from working so I can A) play some SF2HD with people on the PS3 and B) 5* TTFAF.

u can turn off the slider bar under options or something like that.

Good to know!

Maybe I'll pass satch boogie next time. Not needing to strum in "the part" makes it tappable for even a lowly player like me that screws up periodically, but the slider bar was killing that option.

I made myself play through GHWT and only enjoyed a couple of the songs (Crazy Train, Beat it, and Kick out the Jams (yes I'm originally from Detroit)). Satch Boogie was just irritating to not pass. I had more fun playing Rondo.

To give you an idea of how hard it is, Hellashes (the first guy to FC Jordan) and Iamchris4life (the first guy to FC TTFAF) both gave up on it as being impossible (for them.)
I love this post. As nerdy and lame as elite guitar hero competition is, it still makes a great story when two of the best admit defeat and someone still manages to do it. For some reason the lore this brings to the GH world makes me happy.

There's no reason they shouldn't release TDWDTG standalone song as free DLC for World Tour for the Wii.

Finally! Got through the solo and the rest was a breeze. That pesky Lou left to beat though.

I also have Mauvais Garcon, Down and Dirty, Minus Celsius, My Curse, Nothing Left for Me Here and The Way It Ends left to five-star on expert. Oh and Through the Fire and Flames on expert and hard.

Stupid worthless webcam wouldn't give me a sharper picture to post.

And now this:

Took advantage of an attack of Jesusfingers.

Which is to say that I didn't need the whammy-on-the-string-of-greens trick but rather managed to save up attacks and bring him down the old fashioned way.

Yes!!! Yes!!! Finally beat One on Hard yesterday after thinking it was impossible when I first tried (around 3 months ago lol), although saving the SP for the fast solo A helped a bunch. Beat it another 5 times to prove to myself it wasn't a fluke. Now just Raining Blood for all Career beaten.

The damn triplet HOPOs at around 30-40% are killing me every time tho, the rest of the song's a breeze, just cant roll dem fingers quick enough. So I've started sliding alt fingers along the notes, its kinda working but I feel a bit cheap doing it. How'd you experts do it?

I'm sure gusmahler agrees when I say that none of us are close to the real experts in this thread. People with multiple FCs on expert, in performance mode etc. etc. However, from earlier ITT:

But the first time I passed Mosh 1, I passed the entire song.

The bad news is that going through Mosh 1 without failing can be tricky. First off, you definitely need both SP phrases. If you miss either one, just start the song over again, because you're not going to pass it without SP.

Second, the pattern is repetitive. So go to practice mode and put it on Slower or Slowest to figure out what that pattern is. When you get to Full Speed, you'll probably still be flailing, but at least you'll be flailing in a logical manner.

It's definitely the second hardest song on Hard (next to TTFAF, LDO), so no shame in not being able to pass it.

What worked best for me was playing upstrums only on the first note of every triplet. It's important to get your fingers off the buttons in time when playing descending notes. But at least for me, when I flail I tend to go too fast even for mosh1. There is a definitive rhythm to it all. I use my three strongest fingers and change position instead of involving the uncontrollable pinky.

Don't sell yourself short. Beating TTFAF and Lou on Expert means you're better than 90+% of GH players. Congrats!

I've given up on TTFAF on expert and for some reason am working on Operation Ground and Pound instead. I have hope anyway.

Also, got past the immediate craziness near the end in One on Expert, but then freaked out and failed.

If you count "all" GH players (anyone who's played for more than 200 hours total, say), you'll be way above the 90th percentile. More like 99.

It's amazing how many people play all the time and never got past medium.

Yesterday I ordered my niece a scorehero t-shirt. I'd put my scores in if they were any good, but I'd be about 3500th place for career score and whatever 35xxxx gets me on TTFAF. Maybe my niece will make an account there and try to be the best 9 year old girl.

I just ordered the ps3 guitar on woot (maybe it sucks less than the LP) for the sole purpose of getting GH3 for it and getting the DF DLC as well as TDWDTG. Those and Jordan are the only songs I never passed, possibly due to them being ridiculous and possibly due to only having played each a couple times.

I think I'll have a couple days free next week.

I was having this exact problem about 2 weeks ago (I posted about it higher up in this thread). I went into practice mode and practiced just the Mosh1 part on slowest, then slower, then slow until I got ok. Then practiced it on normal until I was still bad but not horrible.

I then played hoping to catch those first two SP's to use during Mosh1 but could never get both of them. Managed to somehow pass it after my 10th try without even using star power. After Mosh1 it's a breeze.

Now I just have the stupid Devil to beat.
