Rockstar are bringing out LA Noire this year so i imagine the next GTA will probably be next year.

Finished BoGT. I thought it was okay, not great. I'm pretty sick and tired of the formula after 8 games of it. Rockstar is hopefully aware that this is becoming an issue.

Liberty City as designed is not a fun place. Liberty City is where Heavy Rain would take place - it really is not where a GTA game should take place without drastic changes to the design or the gameplay. In my opinion BoGT ultimately cannot reach the "fun" craziness that it strives for because Liberty City as designed cannot handle that. They tried to go serious before BoGT, but that doesn't jive with the gameplay and feels really false and silly. You can't try to make a serious real-world narrative involving "brothers" in a biker gang and then have them go kill scores of people every 10 minutes - ludonarrative dissonance.

The length of the expansions is awkward. A "mere" 10-15 hour game feels wrong in that world, at least with the stories they tried to tell (L&D much more so than BoGT). Rockstar said that the expansions were experimental. If they want to introduce entirely new protagonists and take them through a grand arc (as they generally do), the games probably need to be longer. One $30 expansion that's a 30-40 hour ride with a new character seems more appropriate than 2 weak 10 hour stories. Or, an expansion with the protagonist we already played in the main game could work - maybe pick them up a year down the line or whatever. A $10, 5 hour main character expansion plus the other thing I mentioned might make a lot of sense.

Anyway,

SA > VC > LCS > 3 > VCS > BoGT > 4 > L&D

You don't like Liberty city but you like GTA 3 more, which is in a sh*tter, more condensed Liberty city?

I think GTA IV is incredible, always have and always will. I have played every GTA game from the days of overhead view, and the city they have created in it feels alive like no other that they have done.

I struggle to see why people don't like it. It has its flaws, no doubt, but overall its such a well-rounded and satirical game, gets into my top 10 games easily.

No GTA 2? That game was siiiiiiick, and so much replay value, I can easily play it today anytime. There's no other GTA game that you can just fire up and **** around so easily.

Although GTA 1 sucked. ****** graphics, didn't really make much sense of what was going on, so I say GTA 2 is the first real game of the series.

I think 3 will always be my favorite just because it was so innovative. The importance of 3 is so undervalued.

3 > 2 > 4 > SA > VC

out of the ones I played. And I don't even see how you could put 4 behind VC, as VC was basically just an expansion for 3. It had it's moments, but nothing new really came out of it.

In fact, gonna download 2 and play it.

I mean, I could easily rate 4 as the best game just because it's the newest, but that's like rating a remake of a movie as the better version just because it's newer. You've played the classic GTAs, you should be able to see why they have a special place in the heart of GTA fans.

In this case I'd prefer condensed because it's a boring place when it's so big. GTA3 is "cartoonier". In any event, I don't really know if the more realistic design has anything to do with my lukewarm-ness.

I hate 2, sorry friend. Then again, I used cheat codes for it because I did not want to grind it, so my experience is not pure by any means.

I don't know how a 50 hour stand-alone game in an entirely new place could be called an expansion. Miami in the '80s is a stroke of genius. I had no interest in the GTA games and didn't pay attention to them until I heard where and when VC takes place. There are plenty of video game sequels in general that use the same engine and don't upgrade much, I'm fine with that.

Amended list:

SA > VC > LCS > 3 > VCS > London > BoGT > 4 > 1 > L&D > 2

Kind of behind on this thread I guess, just picked up GTA IV plus the two DLC's for $30 + tax.

I walk out of mine and Roman's apartment (just moved there) a cop has his gun drawn on a guy with his hands up, he slowly walks the suspect to his police car at gun point, then gets in the back with him because theres already two cops in the front seat.

Im sure theres a lot of cool story bros itt, just thought id add mine.

^That won't be the last time you see that lol. Sometimes it's fun to punch someone, then when they chase you, stand near a cop or cop car and when he hits you, they will arrest him.

Also, save money on taxis by killing the driver when you arrive at the destination.

I'd just like to say that GTA Chinatown wars is the second best GTA ever, after 4, and they are both in my top 10 games list.

Vice City had the best soundtrack (with SA in a close second) though.

I just borrowed this game from a friend I let him borrow RDR.

I'm loving the L.C.H.C and Classic Hip-Hop stations.

I haven't found it yet but is there anywhere that shows you current missions you can choose from or is it all just call/wait for jobs.

The actual story missions are right on the map, unless there's some option to turn them off.

I just started maybe 8hrs or so in. I did the Rasta's missions (I failed 2 package missions so he told me not to call him anymore for that reason). Went on a couple dates with the slut. Got chased by the cops many many times.

So far the hardest was the motorcycle gang mission.

I tried to go into the city but I guess I cant get there yet the bridge is always barricaded.

Money seems to be somewhat pointless.

I thought getting used to the horses in RDR was a PITA but driving in the game is much more so esp. when being chased and they throw **** loads more cars on the streets when your trying to get away.

Right now I'm at the point where I have to steal a cop car for the second time. It was late I was getting tired so I tried a few times and kept getting caught and killed.

So far it's fun but I hoping it gets much better.

FWIW: This is the fist GTA game I played since GTA 2 or 3 back in the early 00's and that was just at friends houses and pretty much going around killing people. I never really played the missions through.

the driving is one of my favourite things about this game. It requires some skill and when you master a corner at high speed then it feels like youre actually a bad ass driver. Playing LA Noire now driving just doesnt have any fun to it. Sure its more arcadey but its just too easy.

Like i posted in the coop game thread, this sht never gets old for me:

1) Go in Free Mode
2) Identify the most annoying kid in there
3) Go and pick him up in a car, but make sure you have a fast killing weapon (I find a shotgun is perfect) "Hey kid need a ride? We'll team up"
4) Drive around a while, but don't be too random, head for some dots. Even more perfect is if they tell you they need guns/armor. Get the guns by all means.
5) Now you gotta be sly about this, don't give em reason to suspect nuthin. Best I find is to park up by a gun, "hey kid one sec, lemme just grab this"
6) Walk round the front of the car, and BLAMM!!! Thru the windsreen, then go MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
7) Spend the rest of the sesh saying "dumb kid, cant believe you fell for that lol" while they super rage monkey tilt after you.

Once you got that down, well some variations of that are havin a teammate wait with an RPG, you make like youre gonna run him down but leap out as he blows up the car with unsuspecting passenger. Bonus points for killing 2 or more buddies and getting a few guys after you.

Would this game work on an old laptop? I have 2G ram, 2.0 GHz processor.

Also, when you crash you car or break something, do you get money like in San Andreas? That was awfully lame.

Hi,
i wanted to try GTA IV online for the first time. I already had a social club account but still needed a windows live account. after the registration there still was no multiplayer possible.
So i registered some other !"%( and then the &&(%/$/%(&()) installed some ="§?§?" and all of the sudden i get a message: "social club is no longer needed, it will be deinstalled now." i thought, good that "§`*' pissed me off from the beginning. So after that multiplayer still doesnt work. I take out the disk and put it back in and then i get an message "this and that need to be installed. please bend over and pull down your pants while we stuff your computer full of our bull****!"
Now the game wont start at all!! i cant even paly single player no more!

Please help!!
