That's actually something I have been wondering: should boots without 11-12% movement speed really be worth anything?

IMO boots without movement speed are unwearable.

I survived with 9% for a really long time, with little issue. I can't see going back though.

Wow. So I had those set Barb gloves that had comparable prices at 3mil, although they weren't selling.

I posted them up the other day at 50k bid, no buyout. There was about 6hours left last night when I went to bed and no bids.

Wake up today to find they had sold for 382,732 after fees. Definitely surprised. I don't know if they would have sold for more, but I was just testing out if the bids actually worked. Pretty cool, imo.

They might... except 24 hours is a long time in a video game. People want the item NOW, not 5 hours from now. 5 hours from now they might have found a better deal/drop etc, or they might see a better deal they're unable to act on because all their money is tied up in a bid they might not win (this is a big consideration... there is a huge difference between blowing your whole gold stash on one item, vs locking it up in a bid you might not win)

I didn't say use it on big ticket items, just stuff you can't price.

big ticket is relative

people with millions in gold aren't going to bid feverishly on a 100k item. The people bidding feverishly are the ones who finally saved up 100k and are looking for that big upgrade over what they have

i know its small change to most of you guys, but i've more than doubled my gold flipping lvl 30ish amulets the last day from $70k to $160k over like 8-10 auctions. Still have 2 up that could net me another $40k if they sell, but it looks like i may need to reprice those. only a level 35 barb so its good money to me right now.

At this point flipping items isn't going to be that profitable unless you can get several million on it and have it sell quick. Prices of top end gear are skyrocketing so much that flipping that piece of armor or weapon for 200k is just not cost effective.

Getting 60, farming and then flipping whenever something presents itself on the AH is not a bad way to go.

I've found farming is getting rougher. It seems like really only the very top tier of items is worth something now, everything else has just been devalued into the gutter.

I'll find a nice belt or something and think, man that's pretty solid, and go look on the AH and it's worth like $150k when in my head I was thinking $500k or so. I guess what I need to start doing is listing more items and grabbing my money a bit at a time.

I've always just tried to turn over expensive items fast on the AH rather than really spend time there and maximize my money but I need to change that.

That helm that I bought for 10k to flip didn't sell for 1.2mil, so I relisted today for 750k and ended up getting 637,500 after fees.

Pretty happy about that.

Flipping can still be profitable, but due to the fact that the good armor is so expensive, flipping isn't going to get you there faster than farming something that ends up being better than decent enabling you to profit a good chunk of gold.

That big flip isn't very common as most of my flips only net me about 20-40k gold depending on which armor piece it is. However, over time, it does add up. You can easily make a million per day doing it as long as you're willing to continue trying to find the mispriced items and then reprice them to sell -- without trying to get max value.
