It will take some adjusting, but if you were truly a beast in Gears 1 it will translate over to 2 with a little practice.

BUT

As of right now the matchmaking system seems to go out its way to pair people from the US with people from Taiwan.

It's ridiculous how many matches lag.

yea sometimes the matchmaking is brutal. lag tilts me. i also get sad when it is 3v5 or 4v5

sounds great! while i am in vegas i am having a 58" plasma delivered back home to heighten my gaming experience, so ill be ready to kill some grubs when i get back

also thinking abt upgrading my broadband from my crap dsl, as getting pwnsauced by 14 yo's that needle me drives me insane. esp because i love talking ****, but gottta back it up!

alright so i got everything hooked up, played some campaign and to get the feeling back from playing so much COD4, and wtf every multiplayer match i play is complete lag, havent been able to do a thing yet- prolly gonna fire it up after this SEC Championship game

My k/d-ratio is <0.5 in all games except horde, I have played 50 games and still have the lowest rank available. I get owned in shotgun duels all the time and I can't learn how to compensate for the "standard" 0.5sec bullet lag. Can any1 teach me please? This game is really frustrating.

When the game lags on xbl it is basically unplayable and it lags a lot.

I had a look at the forums at epicgames.com. It's all about lag. The first patch actually meant to alleviate the problems, but it was an EPIC fail. The game seems to have a server side hit detection and the matchmaking pairs up people from all over the world and choses the sub-optimal host on a consistent basis.

As far as I'm concerned CoD4 is still the best matchmaking setup on live. Just the simple aspect of not automatically breaking up the game after one map is great and what things have always been like on the PC side. I've yet to play GoW2, but it sounds like they didn't go that way.

It's weird to me that more multiplayer games on consoles still aren't getting this right.

Ahhhhh wtf I keep getting an error when trying to play online.

Your current gamer profile settings do not allow playing online games. To continue, all signed-in gamer profiles must have settings that allow online play.

I JUST got the hard drive 15 minutes ago, and JUST downloaded the new experience and just renewed my subscription (it expired since i couldnt go online w/o hard drive anyways)

I have checked and i do have xbox live gold 3mo and I do have that profile signed in
Is there a way to see if maybe my local account is signed on somehow?

I checked parental settings, everything is allowed

added for reference :

i fixed it.... the trick was reformating my hard drive and associated it with my xbox 360 (it was a refurb and still had data etc on it from someone else. By doing this i had to reover my gamer tag.

just started playing this game online. the lag is driving me nuts, not to mention the fact that i spend almost as much time waiting for a game as i do playing. also frustrating that normal team deathmatch is grouped with 2 other variants i dont like nearly as much. horde is pretty fun, at least :/

alright, someone give me some advice, im at the part where you have to cross the frozen lake in the centaur to get to that mountain, i keep falling into the damn water, no matter how slow or using the speed burst or anyting, how the hell do i do this?

It's terrible. Half the time you don't even get 5 guys. The rest of the time it lags, it glitches(chaps flys away!) or the screen turns a rainbowish color making it unplayable. That and all the worthless quitters who for some reason decide to sign up and then quit shortly in after they realize their team might not win.

i was assuming GOW2 would just copy halo3's matchmaking which is by far the best, while i do like COD4s the real downfall of that is that it will throw you in a match where a bunch of people quit and you are on the team getting owned, dont like that at all

And now I read in the epicforums that there is a glitch that allows you to become invisible when you are knocked down by a smoke grenade. Video for instructions how to do it (just text):

it literally takes me on average like 7 minutes to get an online game going. i had problems at school as well but its sooo much worse at home now. i don't know if it's because i'm using a wireless router to connect or what (my friend from home has no problems basically at all) but it's frustrating as all hell.

also i just tried redeeming my flashback map pack code and it won't work. anyone know what the deal is with that? and what's this new map pack?

the flashback map pack code won't work when you live in an area where GoW2 wasn't released. So if you imported the game, you'll be unlucky. But you can create a dummy US-account on your console and use it from there. The maps will be available for all accounts on your xbox. But if you put the game in another xbox, they'll be only available with that US-dummy-account.

You can try shutting off the firewall in your router. That's supposed to work, but it probably won't. I usually read a book while waiting. In fact, I shelved the game and only play if I'm invited to a party. It's far easier to find a game when you are in a party of 3-5 players.
