I'm hanging with my family until early next month and decided to pick up a game to occupy my time. Saints Row IV is the winner!!!!!

I don't want to buy it, I just want to play it and be done with it (at least until I get a PC version I can play when I get back to LA in September.)

I figure it's well worth the $5.95 cost for one month, of which I'll cancel when I'm done.

A couple of questions:

Can you cancel after a 1-month "trial" period?
Any chance the game will be out of stock for renting when I sign up and end up having to wait longer then I'll be here for?
I can put the disc in and just play, right? I'm not a console owner, so I have no experience with this.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

I used gamefly a couple years ago. On popular new releases you need to have it queued at the top of your list like 4-5 days before release to have a good chance of getting it. I thought it was a good deal and would do it if i still played console games.

i had it after i bought my ps3 on thanksgiving and didnt really care for it.

black ops 2 was already out, and it sat at the top of my game que for 3 months and i never got a copy of it. i'd always get the random sports game like madden, nhl 13, tiger woods 13.

hitman absolution was never sent either, it was #2 on the que. i did get assassins creed 3, which was 3rd on the list.

the shipping warehouse near me was in pittsburgh (im in buffalo) and it was taking 10 days from the day i sent a game back, to the day i received another game. i emailed them to complain about it and finally cancelled my script. i had the 2 game package, and in one month i spent 20 of the 30 days waiting on new games. wasn't worth it for me.

I decided to go for it, and leave nothing but SR4 in my cue. They said there was a 49% chance to ship soon. I'll wait to see if it ends up shipping and if it's not before I leave, I'll just eat the $6.00. Shouldn't be more then a 2 day ship here, so I'm good there I think.

Think I'd find a game that just came out today on craiglist this fast? Worth a shot, I guess. I'm sure plenty buy and burn.

Loads of people sell stolen merch all over the place. Working at a used game store we'd always have 2-3 people come in the day a game dropped with still-wrapped new games to sell.

IT SHIPPED!!!!! I have to say, I'm kinda shocked. I wasn't expecting it to happen. My "Only 1 Game In Q" idea worked rather well.

I always wondered if they would put first month/trial members first in line for games to try and hook them/make the service seem more efficient than they actually are, after an extremely small sample I thought it was possible but who knows.

In general if you want any hope of getting a new release, have it be the only thing in your queue and as j4 said queue it up at least a few days before the release date.

It will pop in and play, and I imagine it's super easy to not reup for another month just make sure you do it before the time is up.

Wouldn't it have been way easier to find a redbox and get it from there? I live in middle of nowhere Canada and we still have redbox here.

Redbox game rentals are $2 a day. $2 x 30 daya = $60 believe it or not.

I actually would've done a redbox rental for if I was back in LA, which I will be next month. Right now, I'm in Sedona, AZ and there ain't **** out here. I've seen a few redboxes, but the most recent game they had that I would want to play was Red Dead Redemption.

You should know of the free Gamestop rental concept. It is quite simple.

Gamestop allows any used game to be given a full refund within 7 days of purchase. So go buy a used game, play it for 7 days, take it back and either get a refund or exchange for a different game. You can keep swapping out games and the clock is reset to 7 days.

Obviously there are multiple gamestops in you area, so you can try this at different stores. The return has to go to the same store, but it is still a great free week rental system for any games.

There is a privately owned game shop in Cottonwood (10minutes outside of Sedona, AZ) and he doesn't do that very often.

Also, it turns out that the postal service out here refuses to deliver mail of any kind to a name that doesn't have a form filled out for that particular address. Living in LA, I've had mail from people I've never heard of, or people that left 5+ years prior. The game was shipped from GameFly, but I think it ended up getting sent back because of that. Looks like I'll just have to buy the goddamned thing.
