I've gotten to about halfway through Sept in just the manager mode. There are three career modes btw, individual player, manager, and then ....forgot the other, will post what it is in a bit.

Only done the manager one, but it seems improved from previous ones. Not much more to say just yet, sorry.

my opponents are always super organized giving me very little passing options and let me work very hard but when they attack oftentimes two simples passes are enough and they are 1vs1 i just dont get it(midfield is overrun super easily)

staying passive and trying to keep shape doesnt work neither does trying to be more aggressive

rented this today at Blockbuster: $7.50 for a month because of some unlimited rental plan (1 game/movie out at a time).

haven't played a game yet because i got annoyed and turned off the game after dealing with the annoying new UT interface. very laggy and just annoying in general and then the screen froze. i feel like EA took 5 steps back with the new UT interface and look.

what tactics are you guys mostly using? obviously it depends on the personnel but as a default what are you guys rolling with?

probably because the new defending system sucks (ducks for cover from the pro-TD crowd )

i never noticed much difference last year among the different tactics, including my custom tactics. same for custom formations. the slider bar though (ultra-defensive, balanced, etc) made a significant difference.

I like 15-20 pressure and 40-50 agression so far with cover line. I like to use a CM/DM to chase the ball/passing lanes/through ball route instead of controlling a cb and then having the cpu pressure the player with the ball (which I think most people probably do defensively). I think it helps keep shape better and is the best way to defend against 1-2 through balls.

I think denying passes is the most important thing to defense this year, that and not overrunning those in posession when they do a move on you. Try and work more on just keeping the ball in front of you rather then trying to win it at all times. Most players will try and make the pass they want to make even if you have it covered.

But that is just me I have been playing low pressure for awhile now so I am comfortable with that style of defending.

the computer just keeps marching down the field on me and every time i try to take over the defender on the ball he spazzes out and gets embarassed

What you could potentially do is go to the shop and buy a copy, then when the Amazon copy arrives send it back fully packaged explaining you'd like a refund. This is risky and could cost you £40 as i'm not sure if Amazon would allow that, also it would be best to send them an e-mail/phone before hand saying you'll send it back for a refund - you never know? I knoe Amazon are extremely good at normal refunds for damaged/lost goods, not sure on their policy if you straight just don't want it anymore though.

my problem this year again is that counter-attacking just seems WAY superior because dribbling is so strong/defending difficult
i dominated every game in possession/shots/passing accuracy etc etc but still lost like 6 in a row because it was too easy for them to cut me open at the break

I tried out my Utd custom tactics from fifa11 which are less possession based and I instantly did A LOT better

The Nordic version is out one day before the UK version. Not sure about US.

What's the deal with MASSIVE pressure on defense? Ran into a guy that just absolutely bumrushed the ball whenever I had it, way faster than anyone else I played... is that from holding down right-thumb stick?

Wasn't used to it, didn't have much fun that game.. is it a viable strategy or am I missing some easy counter?

I had the same bug but just kept trying to play and it fixed itself ..

ditto. 4th try fixed it and I played 3 games with no further problems
