Yes, as Sweden I utterly destroyed Brandenburg and Annexed Netherlands with France, I am a monster. (Also i say Common Cause WAAAAY to ****ing much in my AARs and just realized this posting them all).

Milan got backed up Austria (who wanted Venice back), both Austria and Milan attacked in the middle of the massive Russo-Polish vs Turk-Mughal-Papal war so ottomans were in no shape to resist their invasion. Papal states lost too much ground and wasn't able to resist another invasion by then Italy later in the session. So he got exiled to North Africa, and then decided to go play japan starting from 1633 onward.

Every time I feel like playing Eu4 (or CK2) I look on Steam and I'm 1-3 expansions behind and just play something else.

I'm really not one to roleplay, but when you are the ****ing Pope and decide to side with the Ottomans and Mughals in a war against Russia and Poland, you need to take a step back and reevaluate your life.

looks like this is the most recent map, RIP African pope. Also why is english madagascar a thing? No one wants Kongo? Also also, surprised Mughals not trying to take more of India before Euros gobble it up.

To flesh out what happened with the pope a bit more: The reason Spain has had such a hardon to kill him (and indeed did put in the finishing blow on the Pope in Exile) is because Spain stayed catholic and wanted control of the curia. The pope existing constantly screwed him and kept control of the curia away from him, so he wanted him dead. Ironically, getting the pope exiled to Africa actually opened up the door to AFRICAN cardinals, mainly from Kongo (who converted via event) and Ethiopia (who was conquered and force converted) which have consequently been filling up the curia instead of spanish cardinals and keeping spain from achieving a death lock on the papal curia. Spain is completely and utterly furious about this, claiming that the pope has single-handedly ruined the game for catholics.

Seems like any Italian nation (and especially Papal States are really strong after Common Sense).

On the subject of history reading, a couple people in politards (including bobman, thanks!) recommended The Sleepwalkers about the factors leading to WW1 and it's pretty fantastic so far. Although it's outside the scope of history covered by EU4, I just finished the first part which is all about Serbia and Austria-Hungary from ~1850-1914 and goes really in-depth on the nature of the Habsburgs' multi-ethnic empire and how that affected its relationships as well as the evolution of the Balkans as Ottoman control and influence waned there. Super interesting.

Regarding the dev diary - it truly is the best ever. The diplomacy changes will make this the best expac ever...assuming it works as intended.

Oh my ****ing god, I had a ****ing 6 hour session of awesomeness (in ironman) and nothing ****ing saved. I'm on the brink of uninstalling this piece of crap and never looking at it again. I did press save before quitting and I had monthly autosaves, SO WHAT THE **** HAPPENED?!

Honestly though there isn't a whole lot else to be had. As the game progressed people got tired and stopped posting AARs as much. Game winner ended up as sweden after two incredibly destructive wars (Austria, Italy, Sweden vs Mughals, Russia, PLC, Ottomans, which was a draw, and Sweden vs Austria, Italy, and Russia which was a near total Swedish victory). I did type up some good AARs of those wars though

Need help guys. Do I just abandon the game here or is there a chance to save something? Ming decided I have to die and it's just war after war after war. In this war they have 120k units combined against me and all my allies declined the war call. Totally sucks all the fun out of this Bengal game...
