Actually I mistyped that, +25% religious unity is a Humanist idea not Religious, I meant to group it there. Plus the +25% unity is the very first thing you get with Humanist.

True, but Muscovy is Orthodox.

Anyway I've talked myself into Humanist heh

Not doing even that until Administration is complete, my god @ the coring costs even in eastern Europe.

I may just start over though. I've screwed up several things, including allowing Poland to get all the provinces it needs to form PLC plus not merking Ottomans/Crimea when they were weak (or allowing Crimea to become an Otto subject at all). It's just 1505 but Ottos are already snowballing massively.

Another question: I am allied with Poland and they dragged me into a long bloody war with Teutons + Denmark + Norway + Sweden. I had previously marked Danzig as a province of interest (specifically so that in case of a war, I could receive Danzing and prevent PLC from forming). However, after the war, Poland wound up with Danzig and I got bupkis. I thought that when I had a province marked, I would get the province when the war ended. Did I misunderstand that mechanic?

I don't have that DLC, but if they had it marked too...

There is one very large advantage to converting: Tolerance of True Faith isn't capped. Something like Byzantium gets ToTF to 8, for example. That means you do stuff like lower autonomy and still maintain 0 unrest risk. After your missionary str is high enough, you want to convert provinces before coring them as that reduces unrest by so much (10 or so).

You didn't misunderstand the mechanic, but Poland also sees Danzig as province of great interest since they need it to form Commonwealth.

Apparently a free update (1.27) goes live today, I had no idea it was coming.

Patch notes in that link.

Looks like they realized the last patch made people pick Religious ideas ~never so they quietly reversed course (sort of):

Quote:
- Religious ideas finisher now let's you convert in territories.
- Territory provinces have an additional -2 missionary strength malus.

That seems roughly fine, I guess; if you're going full religious/etc that -2 will be inconvenient but not a disaster.

Good thing I leave EU4 open when I'm not actively playing, so it won't update. I'm into the 1720s in my game, and I have to say the last 90 years will be a slog. I should have basically mainland Asia, Japan will be takeable, I've already got Africa through Tunis, and the east coast of Africa as well as Madagascar. Honestly, I almost don't want to bother finishing, but I suppose I should.

You can set Eu4 on Steam to be whatever version you want to play on. Right click it in the games list, select properties, go to the Beta tab, use this code: EU4R2JvakDKTJ8Cn

You can select whatever patch you want to play under. You didn't need to use a code before but I guess paradox said to themselves "How can we aids this up?" and requires a code you get from linking your Steam and Paradox accounts. But Paradox being paradox one persons code works for everyone.

Correct, but as it’s an Ironman game I don’t want to accidentally screw that up

I'm gonna be highly lawnmowered if my current save gets borked by this patch, I've won TWO wars against Ottos that I probably should not have won and have things cooking after a pretty rough patch, not sure I can bring myself to do it all again. I literally was not aware that this patch was coming until I saw it on Twitter today. Hopefully I can figure out how to do what Daer is talking about.

Looks like I might have been OK if I'd taken that step BEFORE trying to log in, apparently logging in with an old save on this particular version corrupts the old save. fml

Do you have a backup of the save in your save folder? I just checked my Eu4 save folder and each game has a save and a backup save. Could try downgrading and then loading the backup save.

I can't get over how powerful trade companies are now. They give soooo much income and force limit it's trivial to field giant navies/armies. It's not that helpful for manpower but who cares about that when you can get infinite mercs.

Starting a Mughals game. What achievements could I get with it?

I see assimilate Mongolian culture and True Heir of Timur.

The True Heir of Timur is gonna be rough. What's the best vassal to start with?

I am thinking of starting as Transoxiana and then moving capital to somewhere technically part of Europe so I could trade company all of India.

1k a month income with full maint and full anti corruption. London has 120+ development. Been keeping a colonist there for 70+ years and dumping excess monarch points since I started coasting ~1650 just waiting for enlightenment.

12 HRE vassals and 7 (?) vassals I am feeding all over the place.

Game is REALLY slow now. It feels like 1 second per day and obviously stuttering. I am running this game on a beast of a machine.
