I'm up for a multiplayer game as well, my schedule is wide open. I'm very new to the game, Sugar Nut hooked me up with the EU:Chronicles version (is that what I'd need or do I need to pick up another expansion?), I am going to dig into it this weekend. I'm happy playing any country, since I'm new, taking a small out of the way power would be fine, even if it's Africa or the Americas.

I wanna play too. I am not new to EU3 or other Paradox Grand Strategy games but I am new to multiplayer mode. But how does it work, do all players have to be online during specific hours? What's with country lists? Do we have to pick 4-5 countries or is it just a list of preferable countries?

they're big and on the periphery though, which makes them easier compared to italy/germany/lowlands where you start out weaker and everybody wants a piece of you.

How does game speed and pauses work? Is the game set to run for specific time each weekend? Yeah I know I'm getting anal.

Speed = usually 3, but will change to 2 in pvp wars
Pauses = try to avoid unless necessary, you can take a bathroom break or whatever on speed 3 without your empire crumbling

Not sure if I am using a different version or something, but it is really annoying in divine wind, you have 1 day to rally your troops to the territory they are retreating too, if you don't the retreating army makes it there first and rinse repeat until you break their morale again. (Obv if the computer never messes this up so if they rout your army, it's gg almost everytime. Guess what I'm saying is I hope I can manage my army well enough.)

That depends on the mobility of your troops/general as well, right? You (or the CPU) can never beat an army to the territory they're retreating to unless you have higher mobility than their army, and depending on your mobility advantage (like, they have cannons, you don't) as well as the travel distance, you may have a cushion of much larger than 1 day to rally your troops to that territory.

Aren't all horsie armies pretty bad against infantry though? Or maybe I'm mixing that up with having horsies in mountains.

Horses get double terrain penalty and no terrain bonus. Generally that doesn't matter on plains. They also tend to have better shock stats than infantry so they'll force infantry to run more often.
