do you really not understand the difference between a PvE and a PvP based game?

Gratz on being an internet bully. Obviously your a mtg fan, and I assume your a poker player since your on this board. Aren't those games enough for your competitive juices? I play WoW to hang with friends and beat my head against programmed encounters that are graphically appealing. It's like playing Dungeons and Dragons for me with loot I can see.

If I want to pvp etc I'd play Call of Duty.

Sounds like online poker is the game for you.

The more involved you were in the Abyss, you get Abyss points and you use those abyss points to buy really good gear. Is there no such thing as that in WoW between the Alliance and Horde?

edit: Sorry if I come off as insulting WoW. I'm just trying to understand why people play this. It just seems like there is no competitive aspect to it.
There is arenas where you play like half a year and only the top 0.5% gets a reward.

If you pick a pvp server you can stomp other people while leveling. I guess you are the type of person that would enjoy griefing other players, you can be a pathetic ganker and take your level 80 and gank level 40s or so, that will make them angry.

Usually the latter is for losers that can't win in arenas or duels because they suck.

I think the PvE content and abilities have a ton of potential and would be so much more interesting if they didn't have to worry about balancing everything for PvP.

Speaking of, what is the route into PVP in Cata?

Can you buy entry level PVP gear for gold, or craft it with tailoring (for us clothies), or is it a case of repeatedly donking about trying to scrape up enough honor points to start getting some good gear?

Ive never particularly given much time to PVP but its something id like to give a spin in the future. I just dont see what the ladder in it is when PvE is so logical (standard 5s, heroics, low level raiding gear for points to use in standard raids that award higher level raiding gear for heroics).

Wut?

There is no real pvp curve. You just go and do arenas and BGs and get stomped until you get better.

i stopped playing right around the time WOTLK was about to come out, but outlands was such an unreal experience, unlike any i've had with any game before, instantly draws you in and seriously engrosses you.

was WOTLK the same way?

i really enjoyed playing through the game and than began doing 2s but was on a bad computer. probably not worth it now to try wotlk right?

I believe it's crafted blues, then rewards from PvP itself.

WotLK questing was 20 times better than outlands.

Because it is fun.

You really come off as "well I don't find it fun, so everyone else sucks" especially with your juvenile "omg that's super gay" commentary.

Wrath had better quests. But the zones are much worse. Imo anyway. Tbh i couldnt say what it is that is better about Outland than Northrend.

I agree on both counts. I don't know if its the size, travel arrangement, visuals or what. Hitting Outlands from the old world is much more fun than hitting Northrend.

zones are worth? Shadowmoon, Hellfire, and Blades edge were all eyesores to look at.

An other zone of dead rock?! Sweeeet!

Northrend did a month better job of making snow covered zones different

Could not possibly disagree any more.

Outlands is a ********.

Northrend is great.

My only good memories of Outland questing are in Nagrand. Beautiful zone. Zangamarsh and Terrokar were terrible, and getting around in Blade's Edge was kind of a PITA, even though it was interesting to look at. I started in Wrath so I never did any significant questing in Shadowmoon or the other high level one - I was always 68 by the time I got there. My mage dinged 68 right at the end of the Blade's edge quests, he might have done one or two quests in Netherstorm. My Warrior did almost every quest in Zangamarsh (meh) and leveled almost exclusively on rested exp, so he never got in to the meat of Blade's Edge even. My DK leveled through the dungeon finder so he barely did half of Nagrand.

Northrend felt more epic than Outland to me. This probably has to do with you having to use a riding mount until 77 on your first toon, so you really get to see a lot of it, and it feels huge. The questing is definitely better, too.

I will say this, that boat ride into Howling Fjord where you go under the flaming boat and then through the cave system was damn impressive. It matched the feeling of walking through the portal to Outland and seeing that huge battle in front of you. My second toon i levelled went via Borean Tundra first and that really wasnt impressive at all. The boat pulls up and its kinda like "huh, is this it?".

As for the mount stuff, tbh i loved that you got that flying mount in Outland early (i started playing approx 1 year ago) - i always thought levels look more impressive from the sky, same goes for when i got cold weather flying and looked over those zones i had been running around in. But going from ground, flying back to ground felt like a bit of a gyp and that likely doesnt help my impression of the zone.

I will 100% agree that the questing in Northrend is better, if a little slow at times.

I wish I had gone through Howling Fjord on my toons instead of Borean Tundra. And the only reason is that I didn't know which boat went to HF - I always came from Stormwind. I liked the first city in BT though. It was cool to see an enlistment table set up and the NPC's talking in the chat window. It definitely gave me the feeling of "I'm here to join the crusade against the scourge and we're all in this together." Unfortunately, by the time you get to Fizzcrank, the epicness kind of wears off and you get in to the goofy Gnome stuff. Not that Gnomes don't have their place, but I digress.

On a side note, one of the funnier memories I have was being level 35 or so on my first toon, or whenever you go to Kalimdor for the first time as Alliance. I'm this low level Mage that has no idea how the boat system works - as they aren't labeled. I just know that I'm supposed to take a boat somewhere. So I get on the first one I see. As the boat pulls away I get a whisper from another guy on the boat that says, "Uh, why are you on the boat to Northrend?" I'm like "lol wut?" but before I finish typing I get a loading screen and I'm sitting back on the Stormwind dock, rather confused as to what just happened.

I hated HF when I went through it the first time, Borean is so much better imo.

Edit: Side note, gettin the itch to re-sub even though there isn't much to do. Feel like I should learn all the new crap and figure out what my main is gonna be.

It might be worth it to get a couple weeks of play under your belt before the expansion comes up. That way you can get your spec down, and get your rotations set up so your DPS doesn't suck and leveling goes faster. It won't be much different than picking up right as Cata comes out but even some PUG experience won't hurt. Plus you'll get some Justice Points that will aid you when you get to 85.
