They're saying that with 'Refer A Friend' bonuses, because the characters progress and jump levels so quickly, they end up being too poor to purchase spell upgrades and appropriate-level gear.

This is because they're jumping levels faster, with less killing of monsters and less completing of quests - which are the main sources of money.

Since I'm playing 5 characters at once, I'm needing to specialise each character, and to be very choosey about which spells to buy. For example, for my healer, I am not purchasing any of the damage spells, and rather, just getting the healing stuff. Similarly, I'm not worrying about armour for anyone except the tank.

Leveled a mage up to 6 last night on Destro, can't decide between a Mage and an Ele shaman though.

Mage's name is "Sammichtime"

Well relying off drops and quest rewards to make money has always sucked. To make money while leveling, pick up mining and sell the ore/bars on the AH for way more than you ever need to get skills.

my dorf warrior is at 10 now on destro, about to head to ironforge finally. i still havent started up my other toon because this mac can't handle dualboxing, so gotta wait on the new laptop. not sure if i'm gonna start over when that gets here or what though i probably wont, and will just grind this guy. im emotionally attached to him already. finally suffered my first death just before hitting level 10, i was kinda proud of myself that i lasted that long. got out of some tight spots =p

Just started playing WoW myself last week. I've tried a bunch of different characters, but I think the most I've enjoyed is my currently lvl 11 Human Paladin.

It's already eating up too many hours of my time, but whatever.

I've got a 60 Warlock on Destro and a 40 Priest on two different accounts although I haven't played either in ages. I'd be happy to run some people through instances at some point.

On another note, I'm still looking for a good power leveling service. I just really dont' want to grind stupid levels when I can pay a bit to have it done for me. Its just all the power level services look sketchy as hell.

You are much safer using something like Wowglider. I used it for a few years and only lost one account when they did a massive banning. I am talking like 12-20 hr botting per day for months on more than one account. Once your account is logged in from a China IP it sends red flags to Blizzard.

That's all well and good but the raf bonus makes it so that it's difficult to even afford things like mining picks, and you have to watch out for not levelling the prof fast enough to keep up with your lvl. The 1s for First Aid is a lot when you can't even afford all your spells, and we also ran into the problem of dying more than we should have since our gear was so awful (side effect of having no money, doing fewer quests, and killing fewer monsters). I wasn't exaggerating about the rogue using a skinning knife as an offhand thing. All that said once we hit something like 10g apiece it did become the cakewalk it should be.

btw this is kind of funny: http://www.almostgaming.com/wow/arti...minutes-played

That'd be nice.

I decided I'd try to play WoW again after 2 years of no playing and now I dunno if it was such a great idea after being glued to my computer for 8 hours

Approximatly how much of a time sink am I looking at trying to get season 4 pvp gear? Assuming the character is a naked lvl 70? Is there a way I can just pay some powerleveling company to do this for me?

From what I understand, there are minimum requirements to get some of the gear, so you can't just form a team with 3 random schlubs and expect to win any matches. You'll basically have to grind out PVP gear & slowly chip away at getting arena points.

This is true. Everything except the gloves have rating requirements iirc. Which is why everyone and their mom is donking around as new 70s in greens/blues and Season 4 gloves.

The crit and +healing really helped my pally. Now I just need someone to buy her so I can stop playing.

Do you have to keep the rating in order to keep being able to wear the gear or once you earn it, you can wear it?

And like would it be hard to bribe teams who have high ratings to just tank matches to me and my teammates, so that we could get arena points faster?
Does anyone play WoW? Quote

once you buy equipment you can always wear it even if your rating drops afterwards

your best bet would be giving a high rated arena player or players gold or cash to team with you in a bracket they don't care about, or maybe even play your character for you. the ease with which you will be able to do this is probably very much dependent on which class your character is, your individual skill level, and the population of your server.

without strong teammates it is very unlikely that you will ever have the arena rating to buy s4 weapons and shoulders no matter how much time you are willing to honor grind.

You need to level from 1-60 because every 2 levels you gain, you can grant 1.

Man, I would kill to get the S4 spellblade for my mage. It's possibly the best weapon available, even for PvE.

frustration at not getting the rating for the healing mace during s3 because i couldn't tell if it was me that sucked or just the partners i had available on a low population server is pretty much what broke my addiction to this game

i actually started playing again at the beginning of s4 and found a decent partner, but fortunately my priorities had already shifted toward improving my poker game rather than my arena one and it didn't take me long to quit again

Aside from the raiding experience/seeing the dungeons & bosses, don't get too caught up in trying to raid the early instances now. With WotLK coming out relatively soon (supposedly some time this year), anything you get from the beginning raids will quickly become obsolete.

Sure, if you like being oom when the boss hits 60%, as well as topping the Overheal chart.

What do I know? I've only raided endgame with a priest, druid, and paladin as healers. Maybe shamans are the best or something.
