Eh... if you make it take 150-200 hours of gameplay to get a single level 60, you're catering to the tiny portion of your demographic that's living in basements jobless, and completely alienating the massive more affluent demographic that plays a few hours a day at best.

If I thought it would take 200 hours to get a character fully developed, I'd probably not even bother to buy the game. Diablo is not Skyrim.

I hope it's obvious.

Even so, I still think anyone who bought Diablo III hoping it would take "weeks of 16 hour a day play" to get a character to level 60 and is disappointed that it didn't turn out that way, just really wasn't aware of the game they were buying or the company they were buying it from.

It's like a guy buying a comic book, reading it in one sitting, then complaining that it wasn't War and Peace.

I'm in the same boat as you. Thankfully after failing at getting a job I can just take over the family business (financial planner - oh boy).

Good luck! I'm taking the Actuary Exam P in July so hopefully I pass and can market myself a little better -- and then move out.

gl, even with one exam, you're gonna have a rough time, esp if you've been out of work.

yeah i probably think of it too much like d2 where a char was starting to look pretty good at say level 83 - i forgot about most baller items requiring lvl 60 and i only just saw you need lvl 60 for certain runes

nvm

anyone who played more than 50hours (prob 100) and says this game is a fail should review all the other games played with that many hours.
Ive played about 100h so far and I cant remember many games Ive played for as much time.
even if I was to leave the game now I would think it was worth it.
also I dont understand how anyone can play a game for 100h and not liking it.

This. I'd say 15 hours is my breakeven point on a $60 game (obviously most people would want more). The 80 hours I've played so far (with no signs of stopping) are such a bonus. Most games are just crap that aren't worth replaying.

Yeah, nothing is easy about this whole process. I absolutely hate everything about it.

However, I'm working through a recruiter so assuming I pass, my odds are at least a little better that I'll get an interview or two.

i think people who already have played more then 100 hours, definitely like it, its just that they are dissapointed its not the greatest game in the world

also, i think you cant compare diablo to other games like that,

diablo for a lot of people is like a drug of some sort

and also, in other games, you get somewhere pretty quickly, so if by then you decide its not really a great game, you stop playing

in diablo, it is demanded of you to put in alot of hours before you get somewhere remotely fun

so, idk, i always find it weird that some games demand so much of your time for it to become interesting.

i guess im not really the target audience, because i can hardly play an hour a day, because i also want to do other stuff

Hang on a second. I was half-asleep asleep on this old busted-up futon in my mom's basement, eating handfuls of sugary cereal out of the box and contemplating buying some vintage Ram-Man action figures off eBay, but now I guess I have to struggle to an upright position and try to address this guy's concerns.

The problem is supposed to be a part of the Diablo lineage. If this was called "World of Diablo" or something else then it'd be no problem and this would be a reasonable game. But when a game is supposed to be a direct sequel in the Diablo franchise - certain expectations are created; playtime is typically measured in years - not hours. It is also priced more expensively than typical PS releases (especially the collector's edition) which is a further sort of acknowledgement that Diablo is supposed to be more than just a typical wham-bam-thank-ya-ma'am experience.

Developers get off easy in one way on these sort of games. Diablo 3 has very little raw content. Compare it to a game like Skyrim. But that's not generally a problem because you're not necessarily paying for just the content - but the gameplay that makes it enjoyable to repeat the same content hundreds, even thousands, of times. But when that gameplay isn't there - something that you may only begin to realize after putting in a fairly large chunk of time - it's a disappointment.
