Once in a blue moon. Not worth it but i was addicted

it was nice in classic

you could trade like 1-2 million gold for a SoJ, cause you could gamble rings and get nagels/sojs etc from it

The fact that this fell off the front page means I'm not the only one who frankly no longer cares when/if I get a beta invite.

The buzz is over. They really screwed this marketing opportunity up in impressive fashion.

Should have kept it in closed alpha until the game was ready for a 2 month HIGH volume (or even open) beta so that people could be playing the game themselves instead of watching some guy try to get his Leoric run completed in under 12 minutes on YouTube.

I stand by my claim that this will cost them sales in the end.

This is definitely the lamest Blizz beta to date, oh well, full game will be out soon enough.
10-12-2011 , 12:54 AM
i wouldnt call that soon enough >.<

I think there's maybe 1 person waiting for a beta invite to every 1000+ people who will buy this game when it comes out. Maybe they lost 80% of the people waiting for beta invites, but it doesn't even come close to being important in the end.

80%????

You think the people who are anxiously refreshing their e-mail/bnet page in the tiny hope of getting an invite are not gonna play the game once it's released?

Srsly?

Is it me, or does the release of this beta feel like the NBA lockout? Wish it would return/start already but you know it you won't get a chance to test it until late this yr or next yr.

he meant 80% of the people waiting for the beta dont care anymore
10-12-2011 , 04:05 PM
Yup, don't really care about the beta anymore. If I get in, that would be nice, but I won't be paying $150 that I would have for a beta account.
10-12-2011 , 04:08 PM
lol, yeah that makes more sense :S

I think the purpose of the beta right now is Blizzard wanting to see how the game is going to get hacked once they release it

That's why they made the client available to literally anybody, and gave the client the same DRM and security features as the final product

There are thousands of hackers all over the world right now trying to crack the client, trying to speedhack the beta, trying to dupe, etc, and Blizzard is watching all of them

This is a service they would've had to pay millions of dollars for otherwise, and they're getting it for free

That's why Blizzard is giving out so few invites, they're having the beta out on a limited basis to make sure their release comes before hacked release, while upping the value of a hacked client so people will keep trying to hack it
10-13-2011 , 01:23 PM
I like the theory.
10-13-2011 , 01:49 PM
they ban threads about working hacks so i doubt it

Why do you present this as if it's a big conspiracy? Yes, the point of the beta is to find issues with the game. Hacks are bugs.

Once a hack is working it no longer needs development, though. There would be no point in keeping a thread open about them.
10-13-2011 , 03:41 PM
yeah in a way I get what theyre doing...

they take into account all hacks then delete it asap so they dont lose sales to people who despises them

didn't think I was

just saying this beta is obviously being run really different from the others and I think that's why
10-14-2011 , 01:28 PM
To me it seems like the slow pace of the beta is more of a byproduct of the schedule being pushed back than anything else. If they were on track for a December release, there would probably be many more invites.

As it stands, if they invited 10k people right now, the vast majority won't be testing when January/February rolls around and they will need new testers again.

** Announcement **

I'm looking for two people to be able to "creatively use game mechanics" to basically powerlevel to 13 along with me. (don't worry, it's legit.)

Will take under two hours.

Needs to have skype or vent. Needs total teamwork. Needs to be willing to record data and follow directions to a T.

Needs to keep this absolutely secret and not reveal the method since this is my trump card / method of cohice when the game gets released.

PM me if interested. We'll setup a time.

I'm assuming you mean people who actually have beta access currently right? I'd do it if I had access.
