Patch notes I saw.

Summary
The most recent hotfix (1.0.2.2) for Destiny goes live on October 14th. This hotfix includes a number of changes to weapon balance across archetypes (e.g., lowering Auto Rifle effectiveness and increasing Scout Rifle damage output), specific weapons (Vex Mythoclast and Pocket Infinity) and includes a number of fixes to issues with the Templar encounter in the Vault of Glass.

We're still working on a larger update which will address under-performing Exotics and overall class balance.

Fixed a bug where the Valkyrie-O5X Ship was the same as the Aurora Lance

Classes
Titan
Unbreakable: Fixed an issue with the perk granting more agility than intended
Warlock
Brimstone: Perk can now activate if player is airborne

Weapons

Fixed some issues related to quick weapon swapping
Auto Rifles
Base Damage decreased by 2%
Reduced Precision Damage multiplier from 1.50 -> 1.25 (head shot bonus)

Shot Package Perk now has a slightly wider cone of fire
The Rangefinder and Shot Package perks are now mutually exclusive
Exotic Weapons
Vex Mythoclast
Base Damage decreased by 34%
Increased Precision Damage multiplier from 1.25 -> 1.50 (headshot bonus)
Pocket Infinity
Enhanced Battery Perk has now been replaced with the Speed Reload Perk

Lightweight: Fixed a bug that allowed additional agility to apply even when a weapon was stowed

Activities

Engram rewards from strikes now appear in the post-game Activity Summary
Raid - Vault of Glass
Templar Encounter
Kill volume added to sniper platforms to prevent players from sitting on top of them
Relic

Why do they keep nerfing AR's? If anything fusion rifles should be nerfed. Getting 1 shot by those is ridiculous.

people seem to be all up in arms about the patch

really happy i skipped SUROS and bought red death instead if it's as significant as people expect. 2% damage reduction doesn't seem bad but the stability changes are probably gonna be an issue for ARs.

SUROS should survive that better than anything tbh, it's already unbelievably stable to the point where there's basically no recoil.

It's not the stability that matters, or the 2%. It's the precision multiplier being reduced to 1.25. This just reduces time to kill by one and sometimes two bullets. That's a big, big deal.

Haven't been able to experiment yet, but TTK is all that matters.

Anyone with experience from the field on this round of nerfs?

Yeah I put in some time today.

Suros Regime: Still the best AR. As far as I can tell it now takes 7 headshots, rather than 5, to kill someone with full health. Range was decreased slightly but you don't really notice because long range fights never really happen. It is noticeably slower to kill, though.

Shotguns: Whatever the nerf was alleged to be, it didn't do anything. One shots all over, as per the usual.

Scout Rifles: These received a significant boost, and the good ones are lethal. The MIDA Multi Tool has lower impact than some of the others, and as a result it's pretty terrible. The Cryptic Dragon is my preferred option for PVP because it has super low recoil and speeds up grenade recovery. You have to play differently in order to be effective, though. Close range, you get owned by auto rifles. Mid range, you still get owned if you ever miss. Headshots hit like a truck.

Pulse Rifles: Still worthless because not boosted at all. Suros Regime hits harder on headshots than Red Death, meaning that your time to kill with pulse rifles remains slower than auto rifles. Is problem, since the entire class of weapons is worthless for PVP.

Hand Cannons: I'm pretty sure these now have the the lowest time to kill in PVP, with The Devil You Know being the hand cannon of choice because of its increased stability when you deal damage. Hawkmoon, The Last Word, Thorn, Lord High Fixer, etc., are all viable options.

Pocket Infinity: Didn't come across it but it's probably still broken.

Vex Mythoclast: Still pretty deadly and rare.

Ultimate Takeaway: The SUROS REGIME is still the best PVP weapon in the game, but you can adjust your play style to accomodate a really good scout or hand cannon. You can still make other good auto rifles work, but they're slower to kill than they used to be. Every primary I haven't already mentioned is trash.

SHOTGUNS are still elite, don't even worry about that nerf.

Mostly, this nerf results in slower time to kill in PVP (because SUROS REGIME used to kill very quickly from like any range). I don't think the meta changes, but it's now at least viable to use a scout rifle or hand cannon. You'll still get owned mid range and closer by SUROS.

Shotty nerf was IIRC "less range boost when ADS". They should still be 1hk as they were beforehand if hipfired (normal use).

Loot cave 1.0 is supposed to be worth a visit

Oh, and I don't have it so I can't speak to it directly, but one obvious conclusion to be drawn is that the Raid-drop full automatic scout rifle that KruZe has might be elite in PVP.

Also, keep in mind that longer time to kill means more viability for sniper rifles.

Sniper rifles are eventually going to be the most elite guns in the game.

Right now they just require so much organization and anticipation they are hard to use solo when you don't have people to call out where enemies are.

question, what did you compare it against. Specifically, did you compare it against hard light?

I did not compare it directly against Hard Light, but I do know that Hard Light remains unpopular largely because you can't get the crazy stability that you get with Suros Regime, which still has the increased damage in the second half of the magazine AND the increased damage from the zoom. No AR hits like Suros.

I don't think this is true. My hard light has almost a full stability bar. On phone so I can't check what I'm giving up.

As far as bonuses go the difference is that hard light gets ricochet bullets and lower half extra dmg. I don't have a great sense of how many kills I get from ricochet bullets (bc my aim is perfect ldo)
