Title says it all. Interested in an xbox bc I love halo, but also open to playstation (3 or 4) if game selection is better. Need games that have a low learning curve as shes not much of a gamer.

Get a Super Nintendo. Even non-gamers love playing SNES games. I've had my XB1 since shortly after it launced and spent maybe 3 total hours doing the couch co-op thing with my fiancee. On the flip side we've spent 50+ hours over that time frame playing SNES Donkey Kong and Mario games.

I played this as a kid and would love to have one again, but I dont know how easy it would be to find one in good condition. Where I live it might be difficult to just order one on ebay, but I'm not sure.

Seems alot of the games I would be interested in are available on both PS3 and xbox 360 (resident evil, lego series, trine). I didnt know there was so much cross over between consoles so I might just go with a cheaper/slightly older console. That said, any preference as to the online system to one or the other?

I love my PS3, so versatile. games, blu-rays, netflix, youtube, plenty of demos to try for free so your gf can check out titles. Massive back catalogue to choose from as well.

Don't discredit the Wii U. Great machine for a casual fun environment. Many amazing games that are easy to learn.

Super Mario Maker is a combination of 4 different mario games. People build levels and you connect online to play their levels. You can also build their levels.

Mario Kart. Just great fun all around.

Splatoon is a fun competitive shooter.

Those are just the 3 core games I would recommend for a Wii U. The Wii U has few games but the ones that are on it are close to 10/10.

What you have described in your post are "cross-platform" games. These are produced by external game studios. These will all be on Sony or Microsofts system. "Exclusives" are games made by the game system companies.

Preference for online for the older systems is Xbox 360. It costs to play online but the community is larger and better support. The new systems I would recommend PlayStation. The PS4 currently has more players and with PS+ you recieve 3 free games each month.

If I were to recommend a system to you it would have to be the Wii U. This is the definition of a girlfriend system. Lots of fun competitive games that are easy to play.

The cheap route I would say Xbox 360. Great selection of games and dirt cheap all being easy to find.

My personal recommendation is the PS4. It is the best system on the market. It may not cater as much to your girlfriend but it well balanced. It also currently has the ultimate GF game, Until Dawn. Look it up, amazing reviews.

Thanks for the responses. I'm leaning towards a PS now, just cant decide to go for the 3 or 4. I wouldn't mind saving the money and getting the 3, but not if its longevity is lessened or overall its just not as good.

I just have to recommend Wii U. So many of the core games have coop multiplayer modes that are pretty fun, and the games are accessible to someone that might not be really experienced in video games

Ps3 games feel pretty dated at this point. Graphical slow down and whatnot

I guess I need to add that I'd still like to do some solo dude gaming on this as well (destiny, gta, etc). Thats why I immediately discounted wii.

So the gf just expressed alot of interest in the PS, so I think I'll go with that since I was leaning in that direction anyway. No halo sucks, but it'll make sure I dont spend all my time gaming

Don't even have a wii u and i'd say to get that. I did have a regular wii though, not that it would affect my decision.

My girlfriend and I recently started playing games together on my PS4. We started with Helldivers. We are now working our way through Diablo 3. After that I have Borderlands Handsome Edition for us to play. Good times.

With D3 you just take turns playing or what? I'm assuming theres no co-op. Helldivers looks pretty cool. If you have any other co-op suggestions please do tell.

My girlfriend into GTA, a game where my girl can shop and play tennis and not put a dent in my wallet. She went hard on it for a while, she is the only reason why the game was actually beaten. I just run thru and cause mayhem racing around and fighting with cops. I barely touched the story mode till she couldn't do certain parts herself.


I'd also like to her of more coop games for the ps4.

Got the PS4 yesterday, spent the rest of the weekend playing helldivers, resident evil, and rayman legends.

This is the definition of GF game. You make decisions together and its easy to play. On top of that its got all the drama. What girl dosent like a good horror lol?
