I realize people value things differently, but my TH9 upgrade schedule was way different. I think splash and DPS rule, so I went:

WT
teslas (dat DPS)
AD (balloonian consistently owns me)
mortar (they can "miss" a lot!)
Xbows (glorified archer tower, but range and rate of fire are nice)
Archer Tower
Cannon

Mortars I did first because of cost and their ability to one-hit lvl 7 archers. Then cannons because going from lvl 10 to lvl 11 they get a massive HP boost of 150 points, which is pretty significant. While enemy troops are tied up trying to take these down other defenses will be pounding on them.

For AD I haven't encountered any balloonions down in Gold II, but if you're up in crystal it's definitely an issue.

I'm glad I waited on the Archer Towers too, since their cost has dropped from 5 million each to 4.5 million each since one of the recent updates by Supercell.

not sure what previous post you were referring to but i'm still in early th9 right now, i'm generally going with mortars, then air, then wizard towers along with other single target dps in basically whatever order. i'm finding it's taking a while to get through my elixir upgrades too - i still only have 1 troop camp upgraded and my de miners are still 2 and 3. i'm trying to keep my troop upgrades rolling, i got barbs lvl 6 and just finished archers to 6, i want to get giants going but it will take so long to get that elixir, and then when i'm done farming it, i won't feel like sitting down and farming a few million more to upgrade buildings for at least a few days.

losing interest in the game a bit in this early th9 part. i'm also finding raiding to be slow, i used to be able to find 200+ bases all over the place but now i'm settling for sniping an awful lot and the last two times i've boosted my barracks it's been basically a waste of gems because i found no good bases at all. this is anywhere from gold II to crystal III.
