Working on a cultural/religious win with Poland. It may be turning into a science win.

I keep losing out on wonders like 2-3 turns too soon. My religion is world religion though. I'm a tad bit behind, like 1 tier for science progress, but am about 20-30% influential over every civilization. Seems ok. Ghandi keeps declaring war on me, because I keep reforming his people to my religion. It's cost him a decent sized city.

So, I need to slam archaeological sites right? I think I have about 6

what difficulty are you playing now? that'd tell us a lot about whether or not you can beat the ai to wonders. harder difficulties a lot of people'd tell you not to bother at all with the early ones, and the ai loooooooves Machu and Chichen Itza- unless i can pop those w/ engineers I don't bother for those either

Still playing prince(normal) until I figure it out.

Went with Poland again because I like free social policy on era upgrade. Decided to go for a religious/cultural victory. I got my religion to be the world religion. I influenced one of the 2 power houses. I then influenced the other power house. The only thing left was ****in Gandhi. He would not budge and held tight at 35%. I persuaded the other dudes to declare war on him. We take him out. I wasn't thinking and I nuked Gandhi's capital while the big power house military guy was in range. He declared war on me. (I would have had cultural victory around turn 290-300 if I didn't do this) I had to get peace declared and he wanted my big money making city. I pretty much had no choice, because there is no way that I could really survive, I don't think. He was way more advanced than me. So, I sacrifice it, and I ended up getting Gandhi's capital. I rebuilt it. My influence dropped from 120% to the power house to 96% and then down to 90%.

I decided that I could only win was by taking over the delegates, so I schmoozed the CS's. About 50-60 turns later, I get a diplomatic victory. The reason for this thinking is: The guy that took my town, it gave him a substantial amount of culture/income/production. He was cruising thru the scientific stuff very fast. He build like 3-4 SS things, so I knew he was getting close and I wasn't going to catch him via Science or Cultural, since he owned like half of the world.

GG, I sort of figured things out, I'll up the hardness and try a different civ.

Just won for the first time on Deity with Montezuma. I wanted to go for Domination, but then midgame I decided that I can go for a Science win.

Had Ghengis Kha right next to me at the start who just rolled over every citystate. Everyone declared war on him and I took his Capital which had a lot of good wonders. After that I tried to take the persian capital once with a lot of paratroopers and a couple nukes but didn`t manage to deliver the finishing blow it was ridiculously close tho.

Then pretty much nothing happened, in the end I knew Napoleon was really close to winning most likely even in front of me by 2-3 rounds, decided to send a raidingparty of 15 X-Coms and just raided everything of him - destroying his production. When I won I saw his last stationpart moving to Paris

I also won a deity some time ago with Montezuma or Korea. Mine was bit easier though, I think I waged war 0 times whole game and just won with Science. Korea is obviously totally broken although Aztek's Floating Gardens can also be bonkers. Had one game with Aztek with about 15 jungle tiles and 4 lakes in my capitol. So much science... (and faith)

With the right start anything can be won on Deity. The real challenge is increasing your win percentage higher and higher without reload cheating.

Easiest wins for me were honor military rushes. I think they changed diplomacy around a bunch since I quit SP so it might not be as easy now.

New patch released today: Bring on the bison baby

Version 1.0.3.276

[EXPLOIT]
• Fixed tech overflow bug that could allow a user to get free tech each turn for multiple turns. The size of the maximum allowable science overflow is now set at 5 turns of science (about the same as a unmodified research agreement) OR the unmodified cost of the last tech researched, whichever is larger. AI also understands this adjustment.
• Fixed a multiplayer bug that would allow a player to steal everything from another player when trading.

[GAMEPLAY]
• Allow Conquest of the New World achievements to be unlocked when playing the Deluxe version of the scenario.
• Slight nerf to Tradition, and a boost to Piety (by adding one more prerequisite for Legalism and taking one away from Reformation).
• Scale warmonger penalties by era (50% of normal strength in Ancient up to 90% in Industrial; 100% thereafter). Penalties for warmongering vs. City-States halved.
• Added Cocoa and Bison resources from the Conquest Deluxe scenario into the main game.

[MULTIPLAYER]
• The autoslotting of human players when loading a saved game in LAN multiplayer was broken when trying to play round-to-round. This has been fixed.
• Players now properly exit LAN games when they encounter a version mismatch.
• Players can now set their nick name in LAN games.
• Fixed an issue where player would get stuck on the joining multiplayer game screen if they used an incomplete IP address while attempting to join by ip address.
• Notifications are no longer considered “broadcast” unless the player is connected to the game. This will make it easier to communicate information to players who were not connected when the message was broadcast.
• Players now unready themselves if the host changes the game settings before the game started.
• The number of player slots available was not updating for connected remote clients when the host increased the map size on the staging room.
• Fixed an issue causing AI civs that used to be players to still have the player's Steam name after the player leaves in Multiplayer.
• A player's name in the staging room chat panel no longer swaps if they swapped player slots.
• Some multiplayer notifications can now expire at the end of the next turn.
• Some multiplayer notifications will not expire until the player has network connected to the game.
• Multiple hot-joining bugs fixed in Pitboss.

[MISC BUGS]
• The icon no longer changes to a spinning globe during diplomacy (this normally means the game is busy).
• Don't show a third-party civ or City-State on the trade panel list to "Declare War" or "Make Peace" unless both players have met that civ or City-State.

I recently built a new PC and it's been fantastic. Problem is, Civ V crashes constantly. When it's running, it's great, so so so much better than on my old PC, but eventually it just bombs out to Windows.

Everything else has run without a hitch. I doubt there are any viruses or software conflicts or anything, as this PC is very clean so far. Could it be something with Windows 8.1? I've Googled and have found that this happens to other people, but haven't found a remedy yet.

I don't know if it has changed but running Civ5 in older DirectX always gave me less crashes.

Thing is, it wasn't a 'bug'. It was working literally as programmed. Nobody realized how badly it could be used to win games on release. Only took them until they stopped selling content to actually change it.

Just played for a little while and no crashes. I had been using Windows 8 mode, which is what the game recommended (didn't use it with my old PC because, well, I didn't have Windows 8), so I opted to go with DirectX 10/11. Can't say for sure if it worked, but I think my crashes normally happened in a shorter time than I just played, so I guess that's a good sign.

finally bought bnw when it was on sale during black friday 3rd game so far its a little difficult to get used to not being able to city spam as much so i'm playing a 4 city tall tradition India immortal difficulty, going for a culture/ tourism victory but other than that I have no idea what i'm doing. My 2 neighbors have declared war on me for the entire game and scooped all the city states besides one so i have no one to trade with so I've had no gold whatsoever the entire game but my main thing is I have no idea how the world congress works yet Spain just banned 2 of my luxes- pretty much my only 2 luxes and i was trading the extras for a ton of **** so she just dumped me from 2 happiness to 12 unrest and -15 gold I'm pretty peeved off since I've been trading with her the whole time she just up and decides to backstab me, has had friendly modifier entire game too. Who decides who hosts it ? Feels like they forcing you to be more diplomatic and being isolationist/ warmonger is absolutely not an option. I almost want to go back to GnK but I'll tough it out a bit longer.

The first host is the first civilization to meet all other civs and research printing press. Thereafter there is a periodic vote.
Civilization V Quote

If you meet all the civs and research printing press you get to host the world congress and you have additional votes (number depends on the era), except for renaissance or whatever you get also votes per ally city state as well
Civilization V Quote

The Forbidden Palace wonder (you need at least one point in Patronage social policy to build it) gives you 2 extra votes (and -10% Unhappiness, one of the best wonders in game.)

The World Congress is likely the easiest win condition, just hoard ton of gold and ally most city states before the world leader voting.

Actually my last game was ******ed, I played as Greece, had all of the cities but one, two other civs obviously voting against me and I needed 34 votes to win whereas I've had 33 votes and other civs 9 and 6 respectively. Not sure what was up. I had to go for cultural victory, lucky I kept that up as well
