Here's the thing I hate most: It's like footsteps have literally been taken out of the game. In MW2, even when you got MLN rushed, you still heard a small amount of noise as you died. In this, you're just dead and get to try and guess how. I pretty much insta unlocked Ninja Pro and it seems to do absolutely nothing - I've had people run past me and not heard them with my headset on, turned up, with Ninja Pro on (which is the same as Sitrep Pro's old bonus). I've watched a lot of killcams and people never, ever have Ninja on.

Other thing is, you can barely hear streaks. Why is the heli massacaring my team sounding like a light breeze in the background?

I have pretty much zero love for this game so far.

havnt read through the whole thread and I also havnt played online yet just completed the campaign yesterday but:

did anyone feel the story line was pretty obvious, I was expecting a pure twist but was underwhelmed by it at the end (despite enjoying the story) I was shocked by the polot twist in MW2 but not in this.
also I got the feeling that alot of the maps were simply MW2 maps that were slightly changed
the game is also much more glitchy particularly when crouched near a wall or person.

What's even dumber is they took out hearing other footsteps, but without ninja your own footsteps are still pretty effin loud. (at least with my headset)

Sorry to keep spamming this question, but does anyone know if the sound is patchable? Could they potentially realize they should up the volume on opponents footsteps and patch it to make it happen?

i can see them altering the sound of enemy footsteps. i'm not really sure how easy it is to do, but if enough ppl complain about how useless ninja is in the game with the enemy footsteps the way they are, its certainly possible they could make that adjustment.

Flashbangs are supposed to be loud. That's the "bang" part of it. Of course, regular grenades should be loud too, since it's a freakin' explosive.

Yeah I keep thinking that my own footsteps are someone else's, and then when an enemy walks up to me, I hear almost nothing...

Vamoporfavor my good friend, I will party up with you sometime today probably and will teach you the tricks of the trade Probably gonna run some hardcore which will solve the stopping power problem. Also lots of praise ITT for this game .....

At least for me it feels like I die a lot quicker than I can kill someone. There were several times I would come up behind 2 people, try to kill one, he spins around and then is suddenly outside of my crosshairs and then they both spin around and kill me.

I guess that's just a timing issue, but still. I don't see how to make my aim better.

They could have kept the ratio of health:gun damage the same. Without stopping power wouldn't that make it balanced since there isn't a multiplier advantage?

And, I haven't really checked and I know I could, but I think Ghost is broken as well. First off, maybe these randoms are stupid, but if everyone knows that there is a constant UAV, why the **** wouldn't everyone be running Ghost? It really seems nobody is running Ghost when we play against people, or maybe they are and it doesn't work? I run Ghost on every class, but there are times I had to double check because how they saw me coming was just ridiculous. I could check this through the theater, but I didn't and I was only thinking about this after I turned the game off last night.

i just took a quick look at the official COD forums where the developers post/read too and the thread on nonexistant footstep sound is the biggest one going atm.
didnt see anything on the general quality of the sound though so you might want to head over there and post if you want it fixed.

Ninja Pro "fixes" that (iirc, same as Dead Silence from cod4 as in no noise at all, which I actually dislike from a mechanic pov) but there's absolutely no point in wasting a perk on it

Anyway, yes, it's patchable but it'd probably require a pretty big patch - I just feel like it has to be an error because the grunting sounds like it's straight from porn when you vault anything, and reloads are loud ish too.

Kind of on-topic, change of subject...

Who actually enjoys the game and plans to be sticking around???

I enjoy the game. I can work around the issues. If I wanted something more realistic I'd probably join the military again and volunteer to go into a combat zone. I don't try to make the game anything more than it is.

It's interesting how some, if not most, people got fed up with MW2 and how broken it is and how IW gave up on the game, but yet at the first chance to play something new and fresh, everyone runs back to the game. It just doesn't make sense to me. You know there is something wrong when the majority of people bitch much more than I do, but, yet, I actually like Black Ops a lot. Would I change a few things? Of course! Would I run back to MW2 because Black Ops has a higher learning curve? Never! Most of you wouldn't survive one match in Halo.

I'd like to hear what animal_chin has to say.
