2 people 1 controller.....mirrors edge!!!! This is going to be awesome lol. Also sick job WG, that's seriously legit. It inspires me that they were able to hit over a million. Video games are seriously now a legitimate business avenue and no one can argue it anymore.
I don't get what we're considering "nerdy runs" per se. Is it pertaining to the level of glitches they use that literally only a nerd would know lol? Like the Zelda 64 skip that makes the game only 10 mins to get to the end?
While this bonus stream is decent and all, kind of disappointing to hear they are running Mario Party in another room. That would be much more entertaining to watch imo. Maybe they should run two bonus streams or something. One of people continuing to speed run ****, one of party games.
It isn't a true AGDQ without Blueglass screwing up an ecco run.
I watched a couple minutes of this and it seemed pretty bad. Somehow he has all the records on the sda page though? http://speeddemosarchive.com/Ecco.html
The SDA page is literally completely irrelevant. Right now the Ocarina of Time video on SDA is 1h16:59. The real WR is 19:05.
Basically SDA only posts extremely "high quality" videos of "good runs using the latest strategies." And won't post another video until a player makes a good enough quality video using better strategies, and uploads it to them. SDA doesn't claim to be a WR site, but its prominent uploading of videos and its elevated status in the community make things pretty trolly.
Speedrunslive have been "working on universal leaderboards for every game" for well over a year now, and they're still not there. A few of the more competitive communities have their own sites and leaderboards, but there is no universal go to for "what is the WR in this game and category?"
TLDR: A run on SDA does not mean it is the WR or anything close to it. Blueglass *might* have the Ecco WR, but I wouldn't know since I don't know where the leaderboards are.
Ecco is a tough game so it's hard to make a speedrun of it "look good."
Wow. Seems crazy that in a community as big as one that can get 500+ people together for a week to raise a million dollars for charity, they can't put together a functioning website.
I guess that's why we have to go to the-elite.net to see MRRL times.

They're all from 7.5 years ago, so he might not play it regularly any more.
If It wasn't for these marathon streams and Sig running sm64 I would have 0 knowledge of the speedrunning community. I'm gonna say it seems like a tough community to break into specifically because of it's small niche spread.
