would like you sc2 wizards thoughts on the following bet: (who has the best of it, what the line is, strategies for both sides, etc.)

-best of 5 series
-zerg vs protoss
-zerg is playing with 80% health units
-loser picks map

zerg player:
-high level master
-plays zerg/protoss
-plays fairly regularly
-has played high dollar matches in the past

protoss player:
-hasnt played much the last year
-former master, probably high level diamond now
-long hair

both are world-class poker players

the match is scheduled to go down likely earlyish sunday est time and may be streamed, assuming neither execute the buyout clause before then

who is winning the spacebucks?

haha durrr is not one of players in this bet, though he has gambled it up recently vs one of the players (got punished obv)

ill see about getting it streamed

and the protoss player has not really had any time to prep, though he has another 3 days to play, and as of right now is practicing

Toss should try a proxy 2 gate atleast once, I think that would be almost impossible to hold if the zerg doesn't scout it early. Zealots would kill zerglings and drones in two hits.

id give the advantage to the protoss, since theyre so ****ing OP to begin with.

Seems like it might even be a good idea to worker rush every game

Not having to upgrade zealots attack to make em 2 shot lings instead of 3 shotting them is too sick. Protoss should win before zerg ever gets lair tech imho. Are buildings like spine crawlers 80% as well?

You really underestimate the effects of the handicap if you think this is even. Obv it's going to be hard to guess without having a feel for exactly how large the gap in skill is, but I think Protoss has to be favored.

There are abusive strats you can use early on, but even if you take those out, I still like the Toss side of this.

I think the zerg has to rely on basicly throwing away units at the start to keep the protoss from attacking and rely on a lot of static defences to defend. If he can keep the protoss from attacking I think a pro zerg his macro should be good enough to be just able to power through.

Are these SC2 pros into HS betting getting backed? There aren't that many SC2 pros that can just comfortably gamble for 10k+$s right?

EDIT: just saw both are poker pros. NVM.

If one of them is elky or isildur, would be sick.

I played some handicap games against a couple equal skilled players a while back ago just to test it out. Certainly there are other reasons that may have contributed but the games were pretty one sided.

If it were me, I'd spend less time practicing and more time trying to figure out strats that exploit that advantage.

For example force roaches with early pressure (what other choice does he have other than losing) and work in some sort of two base big immortal attack.

ive been told i understated the skill difference between the two. the 80% zerg is super tough. he would be grandmaster on the north american server.

i feel like the longer the games go it swings more in favor of the zerg. getting into long macro games vs. GM level players can't be good. if i were the protoss, i'd try to learn a bunch of different 2 base all ins (or at least do some fake pressure builds that will make the zerg overreact).

If the zerg is genuinely GM level then protoss doesn't have a hope if it goes late game. If he spends/spent the time he has to practice getting his timings perfect on some 1 base/2 base all ins he has a chance and might even be favourite.

haha cant wait to punish xastin at sc3 using google glass

as for the bet they just played a series of matches for fun and the zerg was too tough. protoss thought with two more days of coaching he might get to 40-50% win, but if zerg practiced as well much he would get smoked

karak as for cheese and rushes, protoss practiced with a gm coach for like 20hrs and they were trying to come up with builds/plans to give him a big edge and couldnt do it

beat there was a buyout though as they were going to stream it with commentators and whatnot for fun. 25k usd was on the line

Pretty sick the P bought out. With 80% handicap I think I could beat most upper level masters zergs with 1/2 base cheese as P and i'm a diamond level player who plays random. Maybe underestimating the skill difference for a GM player I guess.

Toss imo.

If it ever comes to lategame there is no way the Zerg stands even close to a chance.

The splashdmg would be so much stronger.

All the early rushes of Zerg would be so much weaker, and 7 gate allins would be so ****in strong.
