I've noticed that my biggest wins at 5NL are with sets or the nut flush. I've started playing all my suited aces and small pocket pairs, unless there's alot of raising and I'm OOP. When should you not call with these hands? When should you raise?

I like to limp if there are limpers, or raise in mid/late position if I'm first in. Opponents stacks also factor in my decision.

I don't know if I've worded my questions properly but I want to know the best way to play these hands since they are the majority of my playable starting hands.

I think you should raise in LP when there are no limpers and the players acting after you can actually fold sometimes. I would play suited aces only when i get a lot of callers before me and very good odds to see the flop and it is cheap to see a flop.
I would play small pockets from MP and LP but that depends on how aggressive the players acting after you are. If the table is weak or not very aggr. and you feel good about you postflop then i would limp or raise from EP with any pocket.
BTW is NL5 with a 10 buy-in and 0.02-0.05 blinds ?

Any suited ace is not good I think... You don't want to go JUST for the flush but also have other possibilities. A3 or A4 perhaps. Suited connectors, suited gapped connectors (very much depending on the table, if there are many limpers I play these for implied odds in position).

Sets also depend on the nr of players and stacks. I play them when I don't have to put in more the 1/15th of my (and villains) stack and 1/10th if there are multiple callers...

I think one leak people have with set mining is overestimating implied odds. People raise mid pairs and call three bets with them OOP. Unless the three better is going to stack off close to every flop, you're loosing money making this call.

Looks like I need to tighten up my range. I've been far too loose with my limps and calls. PNL volume 1 basically deals with this whole issue in detail doesn't it?

How? That´s the most important thing to know for an answer.

At Stars $0.01/0.02 you can play loads of hands you normaly shouldn´t when they all have those fantastic 500bb stacks. But that´s a different game from NL with 100bb stacks really.
